Forums - Gaming - The Witcher 2 vs. Portal 2

I just picked up the first Witcher game on GoG for 5 bucks, and I'm loving it.  It's a ton of fun.  I'm also psyched the sequel is conveniently about to come out.  However, I face a dilemma.  Portal 2 just came out, and I want it as well.  However, I only want to buy one game (from a budget perspective).  The other will probably end up being picked up when it drops in price (i.e. Steam sale or something).

Which one should I get first?

Get the Witcher 2 simply for the reason that it will most likely have way more play time in it....Portal 2 will last you around 15-20 hours for everything. If Witcher 2 is anything like the first it will most likely be a 60 hour plus game.

The Witcher 2 is going to pull an Uncharted 2. I definitely say pick that up, I can't freakin wait!

I say witcher 2  :)

But thats simply because i prefer that genre...which do u prefer?

And if u like both types of games ask urself which do u feel like playing at the moment? They are distinctly different.

I also say if u some what of a pc enthusiast then got for the witcher 2...plus ul get way more play time out of the witcher

haha im sure u can tell im bias ;) i havnt played portal 2 btw so maybe my opinion doesnt count as much :/

hope u happy with whatever u decide.

One last point....portal 2 will come down in price before the witcher 2 does...so waiting for a price cut on portal might not be so long :)

Yeah, that's the biggest reason I'm leaning towards the Witcher.  I'm about to finish up chapter 2 at somewhere between 15-20 hours.  Seems like a ton of content.

Portal 2, on the other hand, I'll probably replay if it's anything like Portal.  Although, I don't know if I could get 60 hours out of it.

I like both genres a lot, and Portal's humor is making this a really difficult decision.

Yeah Portal 2 is awesome but unlike the original Portal their are no time trials to extend replayability and you can't do chapter selects in the single player campaign.

And as others have said Portal 2 has a better chance of getting to a lower price faster then Witcher 2.

not only Portal 2 price will drop before The Witcher 2, but it will possibly happen before you can even finish the Witcher 2 lol

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

This year will be a tought GOTY. Witcher 2 vs Portal 2... both are epic games in their own rights. I am so glad I am not doing the GOTY PC article. =D

While I'm loving The Witcher, and I'm confident I'll love The Witcher 2 even more, Portal 2 was just a masterfully crafted gem. Truly a brilliant game that offers an experience unlike any other.

Judging from the original, The Witcher 2 will undoubtedly give you a longer experience, but in terms of pure value, I think, Portal 2 will trump it in spades. I know that sounds presumptuous, but the experience to be had with Portal 2 is both exceedingly rare and special - its value can't simply be measured by its length and replayability.

I have a strong feeling that The Witcher 2 will be winning many GoTY awards.
