I was speaking in a more general sense. If he had cut her legs off and as a punishment his legs were cut off, that kind of punishment would still raise the same attention for the same reasons. And yes, that they have applied this punishment is the outrageous part.

Yes, but those people should also look within their own culture to see what's causing men to behave in such a way. After all, isn't the abuse of women quite common in Islamic countries?

Ideally he would have, yes. But I guess you can only tell with hindsight in cases like these. Still, this man sounds incredibly dangerous and he needs help so that he poses less of a threat to people.

There's a reason why this man thinks the way he does. Dripping acid in his eyes won't change his views, nor will it be able to prevent other men from thinking the same and acting similarly.

No it will not change his mind, but it will prevent him from doing many other horrendous things that he would be able to do if he is able to see.

I also guarantee you that being threatened by blinding via acid is far, FAR, more of a deterrent than "yeah, you have to go to an institution" expecially if it is publicized well.  People should be institutionalized BEFORE they commit a crime, not after. After certain inhumane crimes they deserve to be treated as non-humans, hence the word inhumane, and lose any rights that normal human beings have.

Exactly...coddling all these criminals, trying to fix them and send them all back into society is a load of crap. Murder someone, go to jail for a few years, and your life is back to normal, relatively speaking...doesn't seem like an equal trade for a life, to me at least. Murder someone...get sentenced to death. Rape someone...get castrated. Abuse someone...let them hit the abuser with a 2 x 4. I think crime rates would go down.
