Forums - Sony - Sega backs PlayStation Network to bounce back after down time

Sega isn't exactly known for having good sense for future trends. Were that the case they wouldn't have lost their console, portable game player, or position as a high end game developer. Basically Sega is not only more often then not utterly wrong about a situation. They are massively wrong about a situation. Not saying you should take the opposite tact based on what they say, but you would be better off using a magic eight ball to see the future.

People aren't ignoring the story due to its anemic positivity. They are ignoring it, because what Sega thinks is basically not worth the time it takes to read. Sega was never as good as some people wax nostalgic about anyway. My last dealing with Sega was a memorable one. I called them to see about getting a replacement power cord for my Genesis. Seeing as the one that came with my console had started to rip wide open. Only to have them tell me they weren't making or selling those anymore, because they were a fire hazard.

Take a moment to digest that. Instead of redesigning the cord so it worked properly. They just decided they didn't even need to make a cord that could fit. A two dollar cord was just too much of a bother. Damn it you made something that could burn someones house down, and you couldn't be bothered to make a working replacement part. Anyway no matter how much people bitch about the consoles these generation. They have one thing going for them. They aren't going to get anyone killed while they sleep.

By the way for anyone curious who might have one of those busted old Genesis consoles in mothballs who is fealing say a little nostalgic. Do not let that shredded cord stop you. I scavenged a power cord from a cordless drill charger. All you need to do is come close to the voltage needed.

@dodece

i value sega's opinion far more than someonbe who compares anon getting some of their info released to the holocaust... btw as someone who hates sony so much you seem to be all over these sony threads? why is that?

Well to answer your questions in order.

1. I did not compare Anonymous getting hacked to the Holocaust. I pointed out the flaw in the logic that says, because a few people in a group behave badly. That is a justification for punishing an entire group. That is a act of dehumanization. There is a difference between justice and vengeance. Justice attempts to right a wrong. Vengeance in just about saying two wrongs make a right. That is just plain shitty logic, because in the end it just makes things worse. That is the kind of logic the hackers used to reach the conclusion that they reached. They treated the victims like they weren't people, because they were in the same room with Sony.

2. How many times do I have to say it before people take what I am telling them seriously. I am a Devils Advocate, a hard line contrary, a mind fucker. I despise complacency, hate propaganda, and am sickened by jingoism. I love to knock false gods off their pedestals. I honestly don't hate much of anything, because I am the kind of guy who wants to see all of the possible angles to a given situation. I want to find that point that everyone overlooks intentionally, because it makes a big mess of things.

3. Why here well given what I just said isn't that obvious. Console warriors are a special breed. Especially when they feel threatened. They are most often narrow minded, one dimensional, and highly aggressive. A little logic and reason. Toss in some arguments that come out of nowhere, and suddenly they are knocked off balance. There is something that is just inherrently fun about shaking people up.

4. Lets be real these forums are a game unto themselves. People are trying to score points for one side or the other. All the while pretending they are soldiers for some distant god. That needs their help to win a ficticious war. Come on this is all just bullshit people do for shits and giggles. Sony getting hell hacked was like a major reshuffle of the deck. You just can't take this shit that seriously, because what is said here, or what elaborate fantasy some people have going on in their heads. It just plain doesn't matter in any real sense.

5. Anyway I have broken this particular taboo about a dozen times. Letting the dirty secret slip and all, and yeah I know it is going to chaff a lot of people to no end. I always get spit on for saying these things. Like it isn't true. I just thought that you would like to know that I am just not playing the obsessive compulsive game. I just like stirring up debates, and right now they are at their least boring. How could I not come back to watch this kind of drama. Admit it you kinda like the change of pace I bring.

"You want a good reason why this is just plain wrong. I can lay some examples out for you the holocaust, concentration camps, feuds, and terrorist bombings."

that sounds like a comparison to me more specifically a metaphor.... maybe my comprehension skills are just crappy

btw im quite sure that had this happened to xbl you would be reacting the same as some of the people you mentioned before.... finally with regards to anon i believe the saying "do on to others as you would have them do on to you fits very well" anon is known for "doxxing" people regularly and stealing info what is so different in terms of what happened to them?

The scale of an act is in no way relevant to how wrong a act happens to be. The same thinking that will lead you to go out, and murder a handful of people is the same thinking that will allow you to murder a million. The thinking is self reinforcing. The further you follow the logic the more becomes justified.

The Germans didn't get to the Holocaust over night or over the coarse of a decade. The event wasn't an anomaly. This is what happens when you have centuries of bad thought and practice reaching a crescendo. You should spend some time reading up on the holocaust.

People are buying into this eye for an eye, and blame the scapegoat logic. What it gets you in the end is things like the Holocaust. I am sure if you asked the German people a century ago if they would systematically exterminate upwards of twenty million people. They would say there was no way they would ever get to that point. However they would just be guilty of thinking the same way a lot of people here are thinking. A lot of Germans right before the Holocaust might just agree with the logic people here are following, and maybe you should ask the Germans just how shitty they feel about what happened now.

The publisher announced earlier today that Creative Assembly is behind the wheel on a new Alien game that it hopes will take position as a peer to the likes of Dead Space 2.

As far as I am concerned, the news item here is that Dead Space must have arrived as a franchise, if other companies want to knock it off.

wow... another essay, you really went off on a tangent there if i desperately wanted to learn german history im on the internet i don't really need your help on that... furthermore my point wasn't related to any specific detail of the holocaust just that you were making a comparison... regardless you didn't really address this

""You want a good reason why this is just plain wrong. I can lay some examples out for you the holocaust, concentration camps, feuds, and terrorist bombings."
