Sega isn't exactly known for having good sense for future trends. Were that the case they wouldn't have lost their console, portable game player, or position as a high end game developer. Basically Sega is not only more often then not utterly wrong about a situation. They are massively wrong about a situation. Not saying you should take the opposite tact based on what they say, but you would be better off using a magic eight ball to see the future.

People aren't ignoring the story due to its anemic positivity. They are ignoring it, because what Sega thinks is basically not worth the time it takes to read. Sega was never as good as some people wax nostalgic about anyway. My last dealing with Sega was a memorable one. I called them to see about getting a replacement power cord for my Genesis. Seeing as the one that came with my console had started to rip wide open. Only to have them tell me they weren't making or selling those anymore, because they were a fire hazard.

Take a moment to digest that. Instead of redesigning the cord so it worked properly. They just decided they didn't even need to make a cord that could fit. A two dollar cord was just too much of a bother. Damn it you made something that could burn someones house down, and you couldn't be bothered to make a working replacement part. Anyway no matter how much people bitch about the consoles these generation. They have one thing going for them. They aren't going to get anyone killed while they sleep.

By the way for anyone curious who might have one of those busted old Genesis consoles in mothballs who is fealing say a little nostalgic. Do not let that shredded cord stop you. I scavenged a power cord from a cordless drill charger. All you need to do is come close to the voltage needed.
