Forums - Sony - Sega backs PlayStation Network to bounce back after down time

Sega has backed Sony in wake of the ongoing PSN down time saying that it and Creative Assembly have no concerns about the PlayStation Network as the Total War studio begins to move into AAA console gaming.

The publisher announced earlier today that Creative Assembly is behind the wheel on a new Alien game that it hopes will take position as a peer to the likes of Dead Space 2.

With this new push further into the console arena on the table we asked whether the current PSN crisis was a concern.

"It hasn't affected us at all to be honest," said Creative Assembly's creative director Tim Heaton. "I'm sure, commercially, from a Sega side they would have something to say about it but for us, no, it's a blip."

Gary Dunn, senior vice president for production at Sega West and Sega America cleared up the publisher's point of view:

"From a Sega perspective; we're invested in online gaming, we see PSN, as we see Xbox Live, as a big part of our future. We wish the guys at Sony all the best in rectifying the issues they have and they have our full support."

Heaton emphasised again that there are no concerns from the studio regarding the PlayStation Network as a viable platform going forward.

Certainly a publisher of PS3 games wouldn't want to shit its own bed by kicking the PSN platform when it's down.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

SEGA rules... it'd be nice if they could make a comeback and release a new console... I think the games they develop/publish are pretty good like Valkyria Chronicles (Dev I think), Bayonetta (Publisher), Vanquish (Publisher), Yakuza 3 (Dev), 4 (Dev), Of The End (Dev), Kenzan (Dev), Resonance of Fate (Publisher), etc.

I think I didn't have a single SEGA game last gen... but this gen they're great... maybe they're better developers/publishers than console makers :P

A banner stolen from some site xD

Well, of course it hasn't. What has Creative Assembly even made for PS3? Viking and Stormrise, IIRC. Sales dried up for both of those a long time ago - as in, the week they released.

Actually I didn't even know which games they've developed.
