"Call of Duty Black Ops is the best-selling game of all time, the company said today."
Wat.

It's actually true. Black Ops easily shipped more than 30 million copies (all versions together and including Steam sales).
That is if you don't consider Wii Sports and Super Mario Bros. (which were both bundled).
And of course you must not take into consideration downloadable games like Angry Birds.

no, pokemon blue/red sold more than 30 million copies...
|
but they can be considered as two games. I'm sure a lot of people buyed both (me for example).
|
you may be right, but the point still stands...

I said they easily shipped more than 30 million. They very well might have shipped 32 million. I think we have Black Ops undertracked based on NPD. And besides, we might have Pokémon Blue/Red overtracked.
What I mean is simply that there's a strong possibility that Black Ops is currently the best selling game of all time.
If it's currently not than it will eventually as it is still selling very well.
As Barozi mentionned, a lot of people buy both Pokémon Blue and Red. It's also important to remember that you can only have ONE save file per copie of the game. That means that a family of 4 kids got to have 4 copies of the game if they all want to play Pokémon. That's why I don't give much credit to Pokémon games.

Dude, Black Ops on the 360, PS3, PC, Wii, and DS can all be bought by the same person. Just like Pokemon Red/Blue. Pokemon Red/Blue only has two versions, however, while Black Ops has even more versions and those versions differentiate themselves WAY further than Pokemon does.
If anything, we should count pokemon as a single game and black ops as three different games. HD, Wii, and DS. All of those versions are much more significantly different than Red/Blue.
Anyways, who honestly really cares? We're arguing over silly things now.
