 Yes, the PS2 had the former record at about 1.74m iirc.

 

@topic,

Even if the rainchecks are included they said they were only doing 600k of those and only at gamestops.  So I would be fairly surprised if they had more than 200k gone already and I would predict closer to 90k or so which is fairly insignificant for this week's numbers.

It wont make it, it will be close it will be between 19 - 20 million, i'm thinking probably 19.20.

Remember there was still 2 days in the next week BEFORE christmas, and then boxing day rush sales... I doubt that they would hold them back for then them.

The question will be, how many Wii's are there in the market next week, can it go over 1 million again next week? I very much doubt it... but it's possible.

I think Leo's 500k prediction for the last week of '07 is reasonable. Heck, it might even be optimistic, depending on how many stops they pulled out to get 1.5 million Wiis on the market this week.

it should make 500k easily, mainly because Japan sales will barely go down.

Last year Japan had a 30-40% drop, however, I do beleive that Japan is N's #1 focus right now. Win Japan, get japanese Dev's. Then PS2 esqu domination follows. So I think they will get as many Wii's to them as possible.
