Forums - Gaming - 12 ideas for MW3 to keep up with BF3

Everyone thinks it is a foregone conclusion that BF3 will be a better game than the CoD MW3 game coming out.  And this might be partly true.  CoD is definitely not going to beat BF3 in terms of graphics, animations, destructibility, and large-scale battles. But CoD does what it does very well: fast-paced action, addicting progression system, constant reward system for new accomplishments, splitscreen gaming, lots of game modes, and ability for all levels of skilled players to play.  But what new things will CoD implement?  Black Ops had several new innovations for the CoD lineage.  I would expec that MW3 will as well now that the stakes are higher than ever.

Here are few ideas:

1. Bring back the callsigns and emblems. IMO, this was the single best thing about MW2. They were all very creative and witty, unlike the trashy emblems I see in black Ops. I kept playing the game over and over to earn new callsigns and emblems that I could show off. I was very disappointed in the custom emblem creator in Black Ops because I never felt I had to earn anything. I was also disappointed that Black Ops made so many of their perks such as camos and gold guns based on reaching a certain prestige level. I hope they do not do that. I prefer to focus on various skill tasks and accomplishments as opposed to be forced to prestige.

2. Implement online splitscreen like Black Ops. CoD has fantastic co-op options already, but the online splitscreen was such an excellent addition in Black Ops. I used it all the time with my friends.

3. Bring back wager matches. Wager matches were my favorite part about black ops. It would be nice if they could someone integrate bonuses earned during wager matches with the rest of ones CoD profile though. They should definitely have a game mode that is all about throwing knives. An all sniper mode would also be welcomed.

4. Have better security and online functionality. Hackers just about ruined MW2 at times. Also, it was very annoying to have the game stopped everytime the host left.

5. Add in a vehicle map. Vehicles haven't always gone very well in CoD, but it would be nice if they had 1 map that included some type of vehicle for variety.

6. Keep a wide variety of perks, but make sure they are beta-tested better 1st. I actually loved how many perks MW2 had. The more options the better. There were only a couple bad apples out of the group: One man army and commando were the main offenders I can think of.

7. Keep a wide variety of cool killstreaks. CoD is all about the killstreaks and I hope they have a huge list of them like they did in MW2. I am still debating whether they should allow one killstreak to contribute to another one however. The nuke was very annoying at times, but I also kind of liked having that perk in place. I think if they disallow tactical insertions in free-for-all that the nuke could possibly be brought back.

8. Incorporate co-op and online co-op into the campaign. This is one big advantage that halo reach still has on CoD

9. Bring quick-scoping back. Sniping in black ops sucked. Bring back the snipers to their full glory. There is a large contigent of people that play CoD only because of quick-scoping.

10. Add an x-ray vision perk that lets the player see through walls-- This would be a pretty nice tool when looking for campers

11. Bring back the bots from black ops. This was a nice option that I occassionally used

12. Add a couple ways to add flair when killing someone who doesn't suspect it. Halo Reach had assasinations, but a few finishing move in CoD would work especially well with provoking opposing teams in killcams and final killcams.

Do you guys have any other ideas?

An idea I have would either to put up a poll to show that 100% of everyone here thinks it is a "foregone conclusion" that BF3 will beat MW3.  Considering both games are not out, and barely have been seen, it is presumptive to do this.  I know there is hating on the Call of Duty series, and wishing that something would supplant it.  But, last year, I am sure a number of people were rooting for Medal of Honor to have the duty of at least challenging Black Ops.  It didn't happen.

Black Ops: Escalation is awesome so far! A few minutes ago I came across a blog that's giving out the Escalation DLC for free! I thought it was a scam until I saw the DLC code laying in my e-mail inbox. :D

I'm not sure if there's any codes left, but if you want to give it a shot, here's the site:

I just don't understand why don't they beta test the game. I bought Black Ops one month after it came out and it was virtually unplayable. Horrible connection, host transfer just didn't work, hit detection was crap. I think it is working quite well now but that really is annoyning when someone buys the game at full price and ends up beta testing it for 2-3 months.

lolz @ people still comparing these games,

when COD gets HUGH maps, Massive vehicular warfare, a class system, and dedicated servers it would be about 10% comparable to any battlefield let alone BF3. That's got to be the worst thing this gen, COD players thinking they're getting a better, no no Compareable experience than Battlefield having no freaking clue as to what a battlefield game even is and no neither of the bad company spin offs count.

Meh, Bad compan 2 was a good intro for players. Lets face it..the main thing in BF is team work. Which hopfully Bad company showed players to do.

As for for what can MW3 do? I think first of all they need to make a new engine. Their still using the COD2 engine..if they want to dream bigger like what Dice is doing your going to need an engine that can support it.

Killstreaks? Sorry..MW2 ruined them for me. Black ops made them a little more balanced..but really..i dont see anything else they can do thats going to put the wow fact back like the AC-130 did.

The callsigns and emblems? I never bothered with those..but the custom ones on Black ops I loved em. Much like Halo's one. I think if they go away from custom one then its a step backward in the series.

Add in a vehicle map? The COD might as well be BF or Homefront.

IMO, theres nothing MW3 can do for me to buy it. MW2 was the lowest COD game for me (took it back after a month).  Ill be buying BF3 for xbox and pc.

"Tell me why does it have to be so hard

to let go when it?s your final day

...When death is on it's way"

I am fairly sure BF3 won't hold a candle in front of MW3 when it comes to sales, but I seriously hope for them to fix a few things this time around that deperately need fixing. As much as people hate Cod or Treyarch, I think treyarch actually listened to the community quite a bit and fixed a lot of issues that plaqued the older titles. Yes they could have done better, but hey, you can't expect them to be able to do EVERYTHING. So these are the things I want to see fixed:

-Fix lag issues, Black Ops could easily be renamed as "Lag Ops", way too much d/c and latency issues. ADD IN DEDICATED SERVERS. Thats the best way to fix this, and at this point, we can't have it any other way.

-Remove second chance. I don't think I need to explain this but just to reiterate, don't put it perks that award bad gameplay.

-Add in a bit more gun variety, don't make one gun have the exact same stats as another with just tweaked recoil (like famas and aug). To be honest, the only guns BO was stripped down to were the Famas and AK74u. Balance the guns so that some aren't clearly superior to the others.

-Balance the perks a little bit more. I think BO had decent balance in the perks, but Ghost Pro was overpowered and promoted too much camping. So make sure to keep balancing at the top of your priorities in all aspects. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GO THE WAY MW2 DID.

-PLAY TEST YOUR GAMES BEFORE RELEASE, or do a beta. Seriously, rather than having a million patches, just do it right the first time.

COD was never as good as Battlefield....sales don't speak for the quality of a game...it just means better marketing

"I don't know what this Yamcha is, but it sounds just like Raditz."

I hate the earned emblems because it only lead to boosting which is way down in Black Ops making it much more superior in my eyes than mw2. Nuke boosting was out of control and camping partly due to people trying to get emblems.

I also think vehicles were the worst part about World at war so I would throw that out too.

Your other ideas are okay, but I don't have many complaints about Black Ops it is great I love the funny ass emblems dirty or just cool.

I wouldn't worry though they change up something a little for every game, but I think there is not much to improve on.

Edit: Cod will rock battlefield in sale all the whiners can just keep on whining.

nothing can make mw3 better. unless they make it unpleasing to casuals.
