Dunno, but it's definitely gotten worse since the merger. They've spent this entire generation running around like a headless chicken and seem to actively enjoy trolling the Tales fanbase.

FF13 was not good, if they release the same week i'll be getting Tales, besides they wont release in the same week, Namco were reluctant to release Tales in the west because of percieved lack of consumer demand, they not going to compete with a well established series here in the west.

anyway i think FF13-2 will not be recieved well here in the west anyway because of the damage FF13, FF14 and FF12 have done to the series, despite whatever merits they had.

It's just really frustrating for Nintendo-only owners. Soul Calibur 2 on GC was the best selling version, consequently the series is discontinued on Nintendo platforms. Tales of Symphonia is the same thing: best selling game -->discontinued on Nintendo platforms... Even funnier is that I quite enjoy the Bamco games that are localized on Wii by XSEED like Fragile or Sky Crawlers...

Is it worth it to play DOTNW on Wii if I never played the first one?

Yes, Tales of Symphonia DOTNW is worth a playthrough even if you didn't play the first one. If you can find Tales of Symphonia on the gamecube I would recommend you play that one first.
