Forums - Sony - Kinect Loses First Head to Head Fight with PS Move

I guess holding the Navi in your other hand kinda takes away from the immersion idea but I agree, it's naff.

Has no-one done this!?

That's how Grand Slam Tennis on Wii is played, nunchuck in one hand to move your player around and wii-mote motion plus in the other hand.

Ok. Was just a little bit shocked at the possibility of a game not playing like that since that's how I thought Wii Tennis played before picking it up way back in '07.

Well to Kinect's defense a motion controlled tennis game would obviously work better if you were holding something in your hand similar to a tennis racquet, the PS Move being this.  Holding the PS Move for this paticular type of game could make you feel like you may actually be playing Tennis.

That's exactly the point. My first reaction on seeing the thread was that this is in no way a fare comparison. In fact, you can't compare the two devices head2head with the same games. Rather, the respective libraries supporting each device and the immersiveness and fun added by each device should be compared.

I'm pretty sure Kinnect will beat move 100% in every dance game (full body recognition instead of hand recognition), and that's the type of games these peripherials are selling for (I'm saying selling for, not made for).

Now yeah for hard core games... well just take any style that works well on Wii and it'll work well on move, probably more adaptable than kinnect because fo buttons.

I wouldn't really call a tennis game "hardcore". It's just that a game that depends on accurate and precise movement will usually play better with Move (or a controller of sorts). That's why this isn't really shocking.

I totally agree on the dancing games though, that just feels more natural using Kinect.

I'd argue that tennis is as hardcore as FiFa or Madden or NHL games, it just has a smaller audiance.

If you don't find these hardcore then no complaits here.

Also for tennis you have to consider that Kinnect will have a hard time detecting a slice from a through shot from a spin.... (haven't tried it but it sure needs to be inventive), move just needs a button press (or racket angle detection as you do hold something).
