Actually, it very much reinforces the idea that an anon member was behind this.
"Prof00 you're such a sony fanboy and just ignoring facts, and now you're pretending to be malstrom."
Yes to the second, but to the first? Maybe. The facts show that data was taken, but no CC companies have reported strange activity, and nobody has reported theft of any kind, not even identity theft....well at least none that I've heard about other than in a forum.
This is typical of anonymous. It's all about scaring the opposition into submission. Anon is never about doing actual irreperable harm. This is a simple message to Sony to back off.
So sorry to everyone who thought that this was fake, and that Sony was going to collapse. It's just another slap on the wrist.

If that was the case dont you think they would take credit and reassure the masses their info is safe with non criminals? But what you say is plausible. Or at least that it is a member of anon that went rogue. I just haven't seen any hard evidnce poitning to that.
On another note, identy theft will take longer to show up, I wouldn't expect to see it soo soon.

You never know. Homeland fucking security could be complicating things that might have simply been concluded.
And yes, I don't think it's actually Anon, but some rogue member of Anon. But that's who the main players usually are. As far as the note itself, there's really no reason to leave a note saying that you're anonymous if you're really not anonymous. It's not like it would lead anyone off the trail.
Note: "I'm an anonymous member of the internet."
see, really no reason to pretend.
The only real possibility is that it's Sony lying, but if you're willing to immediately accept that Sony lying is more believable than the simple alternative, then there's no real debateable issue. (not saying you are doing that)
