Forums - Sales - so now that we see what the 3ds can do, what does the ngp need to do

Get Pokemon. And Nintendogs and Brain Age whilst they're at it. Throw in 2D Mario and Mario Kart for good measure.

A worldwide launch in November would probably guarantee a better first two months than the 3DS. But from their comments it doesn't sound like a worldwide 2011 launch is in the cards.

What it needs to do:

-Offer PS2 quality graphics

-Feature Support for DVD (PS2 emulation) and High Capacity SD mediums to allow for games up to 32 GB in size

-Focus even more on digital downloading of things like music and movies

-Have a healtrhy mix of casual and 'core' games at launch

-Be $300 or less

What it will do:

-Offer something between PS2 and PS3 graphics

-Feature mostly digital downloading of games and unique Flash Medium that only goes up to 4 GB

-Feature resrictions on transfering and downloading of music and games

-It will focus on only 'core' games and still be upstaged by 3DS because of its late launch

-Be $400 or more dollars at launch

Six upcoming games you should look into:

  • Be $200
  • Launch with exclusives capable of selling 1.5 million  or more
  • Keep the exclusives they currently dominate Japan with  on the PSP
  • Robust online

If they can do this, 3DS is toast!

Better game selection.

That is all.

It needs games that are unique and a good price point. Much as I love Uncharted, I don't think it's the kind of game that people want to be playing on the go. Though multiplayer games like CoD could perhaps be very succesful.

Well we actually don't know how well fpses can sell on a handheld.

All previous portable fps have been cripled by bad controls and processing power. It's first time where we can get direct equvalent to ps3/x360 version.

But i agree on unique games - they need something interesting for short gameplay sessions.

Also they need to replicate majority of tablet functins - webbrowsing, emailing , media so once you have NGP and phone you don't need anything else.

Just have games people are interested in and want.  Plain and simple.  People will pay for a console if it has the games it wants.
