It is derivative, but I think the rainbow poptart cat takes it in a different, original direction compared to the bopping females with words bouncing in the background. I don't think you should hold people's ignorance against your enjoyment of it ... although you are correct that is snobbish, and if you can't help it then whatever I guess.
Also, what's RWJ? (Based on Google, I tentatively presume it's the =3 guy.)
