Seems like a rounded number... maybe it not 53.6 but 53.575.

I think that was because the "insane numbers"  you reference was actually for 2009 and not 2010 when the PS3 slim and price drop were introduced.



You may have trouble paying attention to the story, though, given Crysis 2's constant sensory assault. This is the best-looking console game to date.

That's probably pretty close. This time of year the retailers have no need  to stockpile consoles.

I think the argument of the amount of hardware in the channel is over, so how big should the adjustments be? and for which months?

So MS says 360 at 53.6M shipped through March 31. VGC says 52.9M through March 31st (take April 2 # and reduce by 2 days).

So 800K in retail channel with maybe 10,000 of that in Japan.

People think that 360 should be adjusted down. That is just nuts.



Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Microsoft sold through another 2.5m X360s. In the December 2010 quarter, Microsoft sold through 10% more systems than it shipped according to VGChartz data - 7m sold vs. 6.3m shipped. Thus shipments are likely around 2.3m units this quarter as Microsoft burns through more stock.
