Forums - General - Ron Paul 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seeing as I'll hopefully be in the USA at the time of the election, on a work visa... will I be eligible to vote? Or is voting strictly for citizens only?

Before you get on the Paul train, I suggest you look into his protoge, Gary Johnson.

He shares about 85% of the same views, but held the governors office of New Mexico. He vetoed 750 bills that attempted to expand the size of NM government.

He had a live twitter chat, answering any on-comer's question(s), which even some random guy like myself was able to get a question about his candidacy answered (asked him about foreign policy on Cuba).

Add in the fact he's a lot younger, and looks like he could pummel Obama into a pulp, and I think you have a guy that shares the values of Paul, and advances them as he has a track record of going against the GOP and Dem establishment in tangible ways - far beyond what even Ron has done.

Ron Paul faces an age issue and does lack executive exerience.  In regards to Paul vs Johnson:

It would be worth posting a link to how they differ though.

Ron Paul would'nt fix anything. I watched him on the colbert show. He does'nt believe in the U.S. dollar.

With the Fed in place, nobody should. Johnson doesn't either, Paul and Johnson both look like the best two candidates thus far.

What I'm liking about this, though, is that if any Repub wins the 2012 finals... odds are either one of Johnson/Paul will be at some level of the Government.

I do think you have to be a citizen to vote, unfortunately. Of course, there are no limits on helping campaigns out, so that may be something to help your canidate(s).

Don't go putting "age issues" or "experience issues" or "race issues" or "belief issues" into how you vote. Vote for who you think is the best candidate, screw the "unelectable because of" bs. Ever consider maybe those with the lack of experience might be good presidents?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

not at all. Certain candidates would change everything. Typically they are the ones who the republican/democrat party hates, or 3rd parties. Since the advent of the tea party though the repubs need a candidate like gary, ron, rand, or some of the various candidates that were 3rd parties (traditionally libertarian candidates have always been best).

Look at Paul/Johnson's political ideology versus everyone else. There is a big difference. Johnson has proven he will use veto's at a moments notice on both parties if they are expanding government.

The problem is that we've had a string of presidents and congresses that just want to expand government. This has been the case since approximately 1998 through 2010 (with 94-98 being about the only reprieve).

I am looking at the practical reality of electability in this.  Ron Paul's age is a factor here, as would be the executive experience angle.

So, do you consider Obama's lack of experience prior to getting into the White House a source of strength?

since when in the recent years it had something to do with the candidate ( yes obama buts thats because he is black hype and stuff ). and i assume the general american public doesn't know shit about who represents what.

did the president do a good job=> he will serve another term

and if he didn't do a proper job, power swaps 2 the other party...

and yes this maybe a bit simplified but thats how politics can be viewed best
