It's one to thing hack your PS3 and play pirated games, but it's another thing to hack into PSN and be accused of stealing credit card info and such.  I'm assuming there's going to be multiple felony charges for this and meeting new guy friends in a federal penitentiary.  If the FBI showed up at your front door step, would you rat out everyone that was involved?

well considering that anonymous is not knowing who the hell it is... kinda breaks this whole thread

but I'll play...

If for some reason I was a part of "Organization Banana" And I knew other's and "Organization Banana" did something devious, but I wasn't their friends.

Hell yes I'd squeal they aren't my friends and I'd expect them to do the same to me.

If it was my friend it would be a different story probably depending how much I liked them.

But I'm not that mischievious so I wouldn't do this anyways.

One thing at stake here, is whether or not it will be possible for individuals to be anonymous in the future.  If you could, for example, totally stop people from being anonymous, and operating under the banner of Anonymous, what kind of society would this be, one where it is impossible to do anything without it being associated with you.  And throw on top of that, that which is you can be found at any time, and there is no way to escape it.  The founder of Wikileaks expressed concerns over this state happening.  In such a state, complete with computers monitoring and tracking everything, the system is ripe to be taken over by an authoritarian government.  In such a system, if you are opposed to the system, and want to organize protests, and the government wants to silence you, then then can find you and arrest you.

So, question here is: Anyone want to live in a society like this?  Do you, if it means you can play your videogame console non-stop without threat of hackers?

I thought that in order to be anonymous, you can't have anybody knowing that you are anonymous. Kind of silly if you ask me. :P

If everyone's anonymous to each other, wouldn't that make it rather easy for some agent to go undercover and just keep tabs on what they are planning to do?

If I was part of anonymous and I knew a few members details, and it mean't ratting them out or spending x yrs in jail, then yeah I'd rat em out, what they gonna do in retaliation, I'm anonymous remember.

The irc chats where they organize are open to the public.

I saw this on The Young Turks a week or two after I believe it first appeared and they covered it.

I don't think you quite understand how this anonymous thing works.

Have you considered a career in tech journalism?

Lol!
