Forums - General - Do people still read books anymore?

They still do, but the way people read books is changing. The majority still reads paper books, but also a lot of people only read online or on their tablet-PCs/PDAs/Smartphones/E-Readers.

I for one still prefer paper books, because you'll never have to recharge the battery of them.

Some people make me wonder whether everyone knows just what is the difference between reading an actual, non-educational book, and some other crap that is online or in print.

So true, and so sad.

I persoanlly wasn't much of a reader up 'till last year, but noe I'm trying to make up for lost time.

I've actually discovered that reading for pleasure is a really nice passtime. I read more books last year than I saw movies or played video games.

I read, probably just a little less than I play games. History books, biographies, philosophy, classic literature, and every once in a while fiction (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter!). Books are freakin awesome, and It's one of my biggest bummers in life that book stores and ACTUAL books are slowly falling by the way side. There is just nothing like them.

I posted a book thread on here a while back about books for gamers, and got Masters of Doom recommended. It's a Bio of John Romero and John Carmack ( id software) and it's super good. Read People!

How predictable. Still, Lincoln was quite a guy, US President, vampire hunter. I wonder if he knew how to knit?

No! It's a real book! It's part factual biography, part secret history of how Vampire's killed lincoln's mom, were the secret backers of slavery (they needed the slaves as a food supply), and how John Wilkes Booth was  a vampire. It's AWESOME!

http://www.amazon.com/Abraham-Lincoln-Vampire-Seth-Grahame-Smith/dp/0446563080

It's from the same guy who wrote Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

I'm currently reading two seperate books at once.  I'm using a Kindle app on my Droid, though.  That way, it doesn't make me feel like a nerd!
