In case you don't understand, this is as much to prevent a second grade teacher from spending a little time each day convincing their students that homosexuality is an immoral choice and gay marriage is wrong as it is to teach a more tollerant message.

Come on, you'd have to be terribly naive to think that this was done to protect gays.


This case in particular probably wasn't, but (in general) a policy preventing issues being discussed unless there is a significant need within the curriculum and it is at a age appropriate level benefits everyone.

In general, but in this particular case I think the point is to decrease visibility of homosexuality, and make gayness seem even more deviant, taboo etc.

interesting...i was thinking this seems wrong to do that and then i realized that none of my sex-ed classes ever disussed homosexuality.   although it did also make me think of a funny situation where the girl next to me saw a drawing of an uncircumsized penis in the health book and very loudly "oh my god! what the hell is wrong with it!"
