To be honest, I think George Hotz regrets going after SONY.

This is how i see it. This was a mistake, but Sony will see it as a victory coupled with a minor inconvenience (after all, what right do the peons have to access the PSN? It's merely a privelege that's monetarily convenient for both sides), and will only lead to more activity like it in the future

what the OP is talking about. Let me explain my point in more detail. There's always going to be criminal activiy, there's always going to be criminals and there's alway's going to be hacker's and piracy, but that doesn't mean you just sit back and do nothing. You should fight for your livelyhood, and you should fight for what's right? Let's say someone stole something from your place of business,do you not then,go and try to catch the person and maybe add extra security. |
They did piss all to fight piracy. All they did was work to infringe on consumers' rights in this particular case

The US hasn't been fighting terrorism, they have been fighting Islamic countries and killing hundreds of thousands of people; and making the lives of millions more miserable. The whole "War on terrorism" does not exist; it is merely a marketing term to get fools to support the hundreds of billions of tax payer dollars being spent on weapons for wars against oil rich countries.
Sony hasn't done anything even remotely as evil as what the US government has been doing.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

So if that's true why's China (our "allegedy" future enemy) getting a chunk of that oil. Another crack pot i hate politics cause of this. OK so you don't believe in islamic extremist?
"We don't always hack sites but when we do, we prefer Sony"-Anonymous
No. And I'm still against the mentatlity that companies are supposed to just sit there and take it up the ass when some hacker gets bored and messes with their stuff.

The OP is talking about attempts to stop hacking, not piracy.
I don't really think Sony regrets what they did. I mean, the whole internet hated them after they went after Lik-Sang. But who cares about that anymore? Sony will be done with this soon and get back to just selling shit.
And frankly, Anonymous has gone from being kinda cool to just about the lamest thing ever. Instead of just being random people on the internet that got together to take vengeance on animal abusers, they're now some kind of unified organization and world police that dispenses justice on evildoers and protects the weak. Even Anonymous is full of fail now. It pains me. Also, what's the debate about customers rights? Whether or not they're allowed to hack and pirate products?
Legend, I know you've always had it out for Sony (hence the quip about their NA sales numbers). But this shit was getting old in like...2007.

Hell no. The only thing I'm sure they regret is that they didn't crush him into the ground.
| RolStoppable said: It really doesn't matter whether or not Sony regrets it, going after George Hotz was simply unnecessary. The usual result of companies taking "extreme" measures to fight piracy is that honorable customers suffer (like certain DRMs on PC games) which is exactly the case right now with PSN being down for whatever reason. It's unfortunate, but it would have never happened if Sony didn't take Geohot to court. Those who defend Sony in this justify it by saying that Sony is trying to protect their experience. If someone pirates PS3 games, it doesn't affect you. That leaves people who hack and use cheats to gain advantages in online games. With the technology at Sony's proposal it shouldn't be that hard to ban such PS3s from PSN forever and once word about that spreads (which it does fast on the internet), hacking activities would decrease drastically. Hacked PS3s would basically stay offline and the chances that your gaming experience was or will ever be affected would be minimal. While this may possibly sound like I am justifying the actions of Anonymous in some way, it is not my intention. What you should do is think about your own interests which I described in the middle paragraph. There would have been a better solution to handle this incident from the very beginning. |
If it was that easy, would'nt Sony have done that already. I believe if someone pirates PS3 games,it does effect you. Maybe games stop being made for the system if Sony and the game developer's lose money due to all of these games being pirated, maybe the price of games go up in genral, due to games being pirated. Maybe sony is forced to leave the console business, due to all of these games being pirated. All of those things could happen if Sony just sat back and said have at it piracy and hacker people. Customer's suffer from piracy and hacker's period, regardless of weather a company takes extreme measures against them.
