eh, i know a girl who got a doctoral degree in the subject of medieval string. who am i (or you) to judge what over people get passionate over? i mean, you have over 6,000 posts here at VGC which quite frankly (i would approximate) 99.9% of the world population would say is a stupid hobby/passion. don't judge less you want to be judged yourself.

I would hold the hope that theoretically that getting a degree in that will somehow lend to knowledge base of humanity. Not sure what one gains from worshipping a corporation though, and being a footsoldier for it, and NOT beind paid.

Actually, it has been shown scientifically, the part of the brain exercised in by individuals who are extremely loyal to a brand (say Apple or Harley-Davison, or even likely video game consoles), is the same part of the brain involved in people who follow religion. So, there IS a connection, and yes, like ALL religions. The difference is issues at hand. In normal religion, the meaning if life, and other metaphysical issues are involved. In corporate worship, it has to do with where you spend money. One can argue that the individuals are compensated in all cases, but the compensation for corporate worship is far less.
