Forums - Microsoft - Next Big Kinect Game In The Works From The Matrix Effects Guru

Gamerevolution

With Microsoft openly stating that they are planning on focusing on Kinect in 2011, gamers may be slightly disappointed at the 360's upcoming line-up. But with Kinect winning a Guinness World Record for its fast sales, there is a huge market for developers to exploit - something that Academy Award winning visual designer of The Matrix Trilogy, John Gaeta, is hoping to do.

Gaeta's small studio FLOAT (hybrid entertainment) has been working on the Kinect, as well as "other emergent motion platforms" since 2009, so the title is likely deep in development. Over on a job listing on Gamasutra, it is revealed that successful applicants will "work closely with a small, dedicated team of engineers, artists and designers to make the next BIG Xbox 360 Kinect title" - a rather bold statement. The game is also described as a "new, truly innovative Kinect title" and will likely be a "NUI Based experience" - that is, a natural user interface that is virtually invisible.

With E3 right around the corner, it's possible that we could see FLOAT's game at the annual gaming conference.

I thought kinect sales were sinking, its been really low, but this week it got the 3rd position.

Microsoft is going to explode with Kinect goodness this E3.

Nintendo is going to inspire with its new console reveal.

Sony is going not going to be left behind with more NGP features.

Methinks this is going to be a goooooood E3!

Well this certainly sounds promising.

Oh a whole bunch of slightly less casual Kinect games to look forward to? Yea..... Sounds fun.

We're going to make something great is all I hear about Kinect lately. E3 can't come soon enough, time to see something concrete.

The matrix deserves a good game to forget the awful Enter the matrix game.

It seems MS has lately been borrowing a LOT from Nintendo's page of keeping your mouth shut until you are actually ready to show something. With all the news trickling out, MS I believe will bring some hammer down at E3 with Kinect-goodness. Plus Kinect has seen some huge price cuts in my area (almost half price) so now its a matter of them putting out some worthwile content and I am on board.
