2014 is a bad mistake, i want no later than 2013 for both new systems from m$ and sony.  

Frankly, while I saw this coming, I do feel releaved that we won't have another 'graphics war' in 2012.  Both as a Nintendo fan, as I want to see a Nintendo console on equal footing to its competition.  But also as I recently purchased a PS3 and I want to have a few more years with it.  And considering PS3 had its best years in 2009 and 2010, I think Sony feels the same way.

The wildcard in all of this is MS.  The 360 is loosing support to the PS3, even in America.  And lord knows the 360 has been plagued with problems since launch.  I could forsee them trying to jump into the market by late 2012 or 2013.

so if sony and microsoft wait it out until 2014 then after awhile the Wii 2 will get the "port" treatment the same way ps3 did with 360...think about it

I don't really think MS and Sony are milking this generation. I think they've actually coped on to the fact that consumers ain't ready to move on yet and actually if they brought out a new consol next year well then I would think they were trying to milk us. I see at least another 2 years of gaming on both platforms

2014 or not,I dont plan on upgrading to Gen 8 until 2015.

Im good with 2014.  I do not want to buy 3 new pieces of hardware (one of each of the companies) within a year or so of one another.  After the NGP, id rather wait a bit till my next new gaming hardware purchase.

Late 2013 at most. No way they are going to last that long, look at sales right now.

I hope for 2012 at most. I'll wait for 3 years after they're released to see what things are like, what the game libraries are for each console, which has the most games I want, If they have enough games I'm interested in to justify a buy, which is the strongest hardware wise, which offers the most bang for your buck, etc. I wouldn't like to buy some console that ends up like the Dreamcast or the first Xbox.... or some console that doesn't get the games I want.

So... if they're released in 2012, I'll probably buy a next gen console in 2015... or at least that's what I want to do... I didn't even use internet as much as I do now before and I wasn't aware of many things... but now it's different and this may end up making the wait a lot harder which would make me buy a next gen console earlier than expected... I guess I'll try to resist the temptation.

sounds great for me...but oh no that means like 50other hot exclusive games for PS3 ^^
