Many people on this forums are posting about the "PS3 domination" and how it was supposed to start with game X, then apparently game Y, then game Z. Well the basic idea of the "PS3 domination" is to give customers a reason to buy the PS3 and move consoles. Domination, heck just sales matching, can only happen if product 1 starts selling better and beter slowly then product 2.

The phrase was coined because of the sales boost for PS3 sales due to a game that was released.

Now "PS3 Domination" started when the console was released as it sold a large amount of consoles, Wii domination started when it was released, 360 domination started when it was released. Now with 3 consoles on the market the word domination has been abused because the market cant easily be dominated but it can be won. 

Each game released adds more value to the console. More game, more customers. The more quality games the better. Games like Motorstorm, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, etc. have all improved Sony's stance in world market.

The more reason customers have to purchase a console/product the better that console/product will "dominate" the market.

Sony is improving upon gamer's wants for games. This will allow them to "dominate" or win over more and more of the global market.  

I'm hoping this solves the whole "PS3 Domination" on these forums at least.

PS3 domination is about OUTSELLING x360 in all regions(well even wii, though wii is not a direct competitor for PS3, it can`t run VF5, CoD4, AC, AC6, EA, MGS4, FFXIII, GTA4, RE5, SC4, UT3 and etc).
When this will become a rule, not just some occasion, then that will mean that PS3 started Domination in console sector.

I'd say you are wrong. The term domination is meant to mean when the future/current potential/momentum of the console is greater than for the other competing consoles.

It was "supposed" to start with LAIR - which was supposed to demonstrate that the PS3 is a far superior console to the Wii/360.

"PS3 domination" (IMO anyhow) is yet to arrive.

The only domination we have seen in the console space recently is "Wii domination", which is actually just a subset of "Nintendomination" (which kicked up a gear when the Wii was released, and I believe will kick into the next gear next year - primarily thanks to WiiFit).

The DS yes, the Wii even though it is selling insanely well I will say no. The Wii doesnt control over 50% of the market. Once it does yes thats total domination but I seriously am doubting it will happen or if it does it will last very long. 

Now Like I said through my whole editorial, if you want to call it that, the word domination is misused quite a bit. The word specifically should never be used till console X controls 50+% of the market.

 Fair enough then Nintendomination, since they control the market and are aparantly the only company capable of altering the game and deciding whcih way the industry goes, where Nintendo goes the industry follows

No, but seriously. I don't even know when "Sony Domination" was supposed to start.

I've taken that as when the first "killer app" comes out, and they ahven't had one yet. But recently, it's changed to when Sony makes the cost of the system overshadowed by the quality, and quantity of software, and how much fun you can have with the system. That is when domination will start. The next big game will give it good sales, but people need a reason to buy it other than one game for it to have domination.

It was originally meant to say that the PS3 would start smashing the other consoles in sales, usually on a weekly basis. Saying that the term "domination" was meant in relation to customers is either really naive or just making an excuse.

 That is one heck of a leap.

Avinash has given the definition of the word. You cant change its meaning as and when it suits you.

Argue the merits of the current Nintendo position by all means but dont start introducing qualifying criteria for a word that has existed for over a millenia....
