I love when articles like this pop up.  It basically compliments the 360/Kinect and the PS3, and that just doesn't compute with some people so they have to pick it apart, lol.

Anyway, as someone in the US I'm always glad to get some insight into what's going on elsewhere in the world, especially when it goes contrary to popular (uninformed) belief.

Nothing wrong with the article (and trust me, I read it all). The title, on the other hand...

Nothings wrong with the title, it doesn't mean the middle east as a whole, just a specific area of the middle east. The UAE consists of only seven states, in those seven states, the 360 is popular.

Yeah the 360 is a popular console in the UAE but it's definitely not "king" or whatever.

“Currently, the Microsoft XBox has been the most popular because of the launch of the Kinect in the fourth quarter of 2010. This being the newest console, it has done quite well as of late. The Sony PlayStation 3 though is still very popular and overall has the largest base of users in the region,” Ashish Panjabi, Jacky's Electronics COO told 'Emirates 24|7'.

The article doesn't make clear what 'region' they are referring to: The UAE only, or the Middle East as a whole.

I admit I could very well be wrong, but the part I underlined is quite vague.

Maybe, I don't know, don't really care, just wanted to correct some peoples geographical mistakes, makes me feel smarter.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Middle Easterns love their Sony products. I'm having a hard time digesting this article.

"The Sony PlayStation 3 though is still very popular and overall has the largest base of users in the region"

The title is very contradictory.

But keep in mind also, piracy is one of the big selling points for Xbox 360 here in the Middle East.

region means middle east i guess

The UAE is considered a region.

But seriously, somehow I doubt it. I think what the link is saying is that Xbox 360 HAS taken the weekly sales, but the overall advantage remains in favor of the PS3 (current gen consoles).

I'll be both impressed and surprised if it indeed tipped in favor of the 360. But it doesn't seem that way from the wording.

wasn't that should be call country or states?

and i don't think who will call a one week winning console "king"...

Can't a country be considered a region as well? Need to look this up.

I didn't say one week. I meant ever since Kinect launched...

Missleading article, Sony's PS3 outsells 360 by 5 to 1 in UAE.

Do you have a source for this?

Anecdotal evidence means nothing. Keep that in mind.

Technically yes... but why would it be?

Since you could just say country instead of a region.

What i find funny is the Wii being listed as the "Fun" console.
