I think this summarizes it pretty well...

I'll end up buying all of them and just enjoying playing games, not consoles. What order depends on the deals I get.

And while I'm at it...

lol. i totaly agree

I will probably buy the next Microsoft console. I own all three consoles this gen, and my 360 has gotten the most use by far. I like the Wii, because it has lots of games that I play with my family. My PS3 has a wonderful blu-ray player also(unfortunately I have yet to be wowed by anything I have played on my PS3). I got wowed by Bioshock, which I know is multi platform now, and then by Mass Effect on my 360. I'm still annoyed with the controller for my PS3.  I think the only thing that I don't like about my 360 is the $40 fee for XBL. That being said, I think it is going to be hard for all of the Big Three to offer something that will make me adopt their new console early, even Microsoft. Why should I?

you shouldn't

you expect more next gen and thats wht this is all about. you deserve more so why not want more. this guy gets it

I will buy all the next gen consoles. We'll see how my opinion changes through the course of the gen.

well thats one way to keep an open veiw from ownership and knowing wht your getting first hand, but im not sure theres a point in doing that!

i mean yea you'll miss out on nothing, but you could go 2 yr's withour finding anything interresting on 1 of those 3 plattforms(although unlikely)

You still miss out on games even if you have all the home consoles. I don't have time to play every single interesting game that comes out. But the best of each console are definitely worth checking out imo.

One thing that's happened this gen is that I've stopped playing 360 since the online isn't free and PSN has gone from strength to strenth. Probably Live won't ever be free.

Hi!

Im new on this forum and i basically signed up to post and explain you all my situation. Back in time, my first console was a Sega Genesis, then came the N64, then i moved back to my home country(Spain) from the US and got a PSX. After this, i got a ps2 and enjoyed some good gaming years. In this meanwhile, a very very close family member got a job at Microsoft and i got a 360.

Turns out i was basically "out" of gaming for 2 years since i was very busy in college and barely played the 360. When i got back to gaming, all my friends had a ps3 and I decided to purchase one and sold the 360 in order to get it.

However there isnt one day i dont regret not getting the 360s. Not because of the games, but about how bad i feel sorta betraying my family person who works at MS. I feel that i am giving out the profit to the direct rivals and not keeping it at home. Furthermore, my friends all jailbreaked their ps3´s and i cant even play online with them.

What do you guys think i should do? Does it really make a difference? Does it give out a bad image having someone at home that works at MS?

THX

straight from the OP or person that made the thread.

you are your own person and should buy the console that caters to you not some family member.

this thread is about that very thing and more. you owe your family member nothing. get what you like and don't let anyone change your mind.

and no it doesn't make a difference. you like the console you bought then be happy, play your games and you can find friends here on VGC's that will be more then happy to play with you online.

send M.U.G.E.N a message and he will get you started and make a thread for you and if he doesn't i will.

I find the notion of giving my allegiance to a company completely absurd. I buy products I like, companies be damned. I'm a whore and because of it, I rarely get burned on a shit product.

I had a Wii. I sold it. I bought another Wii. I sold it. Now my girlfriend has one so I play it over at her place.

I had a PS3. Sold it to a friend. Just bought another one a month or so ago because I wanted to play some of the new exclusives. It was a great purchase and it gets used constantly, some nights for games, others for Netflix.

I had a 360. Sold it. I'll buy a Slim when Gears/Mass Effect release and after a price drop.

I've owned pretty much every major console of the past 20 years with the exception of the Saturn. I don't care what brand the box says, I care whether it will provide me quality entertainment for the price.

spot on

OMG dude. Thoughen the f# * up!

When I see polls like this it helps me understand why some "fans" blindly defend their system so much. They basically make their minds up before they even know what they're buying. When I was growing up people bought their systems based on what games were available, now it seems many people buy games because of the system they are on, anyway...

I really need to see what the machines will be capable of, what kind of support they will have as well as other things such as price, features, etc.

This is my gaming history

NES>SNES>PlayStation>DreamCast>Xbox>Xbox360

(I had other systems but these were my favs)

It took something as amazing as the original PSX to make me ditch Nintendo, but I still envied the n64 library. I felt that the PS2 was basically a souped up PSX with a DVD player, so I skipped that. I grabbed the DreamCast because it was different. The original Xbox brought me back into gaming when I was seriously losing interest since it was basically a cheap way to play many Western PC-style games that I always loved.

With PS3/360 I could have gone either way. I don't care about Sony exclusives and I would never buy a machine for Sony's first party. The only reason I see PS3/360 as equal is because the PS3 now has the same western games that were once on Xbox, and the 360 got many games that were once mostly PlayStation games.

I'll have to see what each company has, at this point I say either Sony or MS as I pretty much know what to expect from Nintendo and it isn't for me.

I think MS is looking good for next Gen.  Id like to support a company from closer too home.

Or will be baling them out in a few years.
