When I see polls like this it helps me understand why some "fans" blindly defend their system so much. They basically make their minds up before they even know what they're buying. When I was growing up people bought their systems based on what games were available, now it seems many people buy games because of the system they are on, anyway...
I really need to see what the machines will be capable of, what kind of support they will have as well as other things such as price, features, etc.
This is my gaming history
NES>SNES>PlayStation>DreamCast>Xbox>Xbox360
(I had other systems but these were my favs)
It took something as amazing as the original PSX to make me ditch Nintendo, but I still envied the n64 library. I felt that the PS2 was basically a souped up PSX with a DVD player, so I skipped that. I grabbed the DreamCast because it was different. The original Xbox brought me back into gaming when I was seriously losing interest since it was basically a cheap way to play many Western PC-style games that I always loved.
With PS3/360 I could have gone either way. I don't care about Sony exclusives and I would never buy a machine for Sony's first party. The only reason I see PS3/360 as equal is because the PS3 now has the same western games that were once on Xbox, and the 360 got many games that were once mostly PlayStation games.
I'll have to see what each company has, at this point I say either Sony or MS as I pretty much know what to expect from Nintendo and it isn't for me.
