Forums - Gaming - Sonic Generations game play trailer

Earlier this month, Sega teased a new Sonic the Hedgehog game, meant to celebrate their mascot’s 20th anniversary this year. Today, the game has gotten an “official” reveal as Sonic Generations.

more  info.

Sonic Generations will, as the teaser video hinted, allow you to play as two Sonics — the classic 1991 version of the character, and the present-day design. There are differences between the two, too; classic Sonic can perform a Spin Dash and Spin Attack, while modern Sonic is capable of a Homing Attack and Sonic Boost.

Sega say that Generations is a re-built high-definition version of the most recognizable Sonic stages from the past two decades. This will include both 2D and 3D stages. Throughout the course of the game, you’ll uncover hidden treasure and meet other Sonic characters as you progress.

Sonic Generations doesn’t have a release date yet (simply “later this year”), but Sega say that it’s a retail game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

it would be stupid not to put it on wii becouse sonic games sell better on the wii then the HD twins.

I could argue its stupid that Sega was making exclusive Sonic games period. That's a lot of sales left on the table by not going multiplat with those Wii exclusives.

Not sure what their strategy is here, but I never understood their strategy before.

Their strategy is to lose as much money as possible, I thought that was obvious by now?

OT: Is this game just a remake of the first Sonic?

I know that gameplay is the most important in Sonic games as you never know what they'll try these days, but I REALLY can't stand this modern techno shit that could be from ANY game, unlike this classic

I don't think so. They stopped putting out mature Wii games.

I never say this for videogames...but Day 1 for me.

What do you normally reserve that statement 4?

I don't know. Very rare to see a game where I won't read reviews, watch videos or look for cheapest price. I'll just go out and buy it the day it comes out, no ifs and buts.

Few games I had the same mindset with recently were Halo Reach, Metal Gear Solid 4 (bought ps3 for it), Resident Evil 5 (what a massive letdown)...thats all that comes to mind actually.

I disagree.

Some of that modern techno shit is bland I will admit, but some of it is cool. Also, that modern techno shit goes back to old classic sonic games like Sonic CD, Sonic and Knuckles

Music on these classic levels are very similar to the one you posted

well, not every song is crap, that's for sure, but compared to, say the Mario games, you almost instantly know it's from a Mario game. while this one could easily be from F-Zero, for example. but it's also about nostalgia I guess, that Sonic & Knuckles one still have the 16-bit era feeling..
