Forums - Nintendo - (Rumor) Ubisoft employee details Nintendo's Next console

Rumours sound more and more fake with each one trying to top the previous.

If Nintendo is doing this then they are really fucking with Sony's 3D TV plans

o.0?

Skip to 3:00. Wii can already do 3d on normal TVs. You swap the wiimote and the sensor bar around. Some rumours have suggested the controller can act as a sensor bar. Combine that with a camera on the TV. It's like the opposite of the 3DS 'sweet spot'.

So, let me get this straight:

#1)  The effect in this video is achieved without any special screen or lenses, just a camera by the TV, IR sensors and the naked eye (the glasses in the vid are for mounting the sensors only).

#2)  Kinect hacks already show similar types of head-tracking techniques.

#3)  This video was from 2007, and...

#4)  The alleged Ubisoft emloyee's statement specifically states that the new controller's built-in screen and camera play a crucial role to Nintendo's new hologram effect.

Now why would people have to stare through the rumored controller's screen when this video clearly doesn't require that?  Perhaps Nintendo has found a way for everyone holding this new controller to essentially share the same holographic illusion with its newfangled tech.  I'm not saying these rumors are 100% true either, but how can people be so quick to dismiss the possibility of this?

"because you don´t need any glasses or 3DTV to experience it! The controller with build in screen and camera plays a huge part of that hologram like 3D effect"

Controller shoots lasers into your eyes confirmed.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

the screen on the controller is glassless 3d? I think that's one possible way

I don't care who it is, new HW news are always interesting and fun..if this is true this and details on NGP will make this E3 one to remember :D good times for all

Pretty much. In theory you could put two candles on your head or the controller to replace the ir glasses. I thought Nintendo might have actually put something like this in Wii Party. Kinect doesn't need ir lights because it can track your actual head. If N6 has a camera capable of detecting where your face is..... hmm where have I seen Nintendo doing face recognition software recently?

Yeah, 2007. I think Johnny Chung Lee is working for MS/Kinect now.

Splitscreen multiplayer wouldn't be a problem, same screen would.

Seems like a nice simple way of doing 3D without glasses. Right up Nintendo's street. It would be funny to see little, old, technologically backward Nintendo announce 'We've done it again! Moar 3D without glasses!'
