Well, I was aware of the possibility that that wasn't the case, but I think it was small enough to be dismissed. 

Mafia kills almost never change from style to style, and the possibility of having the ACTUAL mafia kill absent or blocked while a separate poison-mafia kill went through seemed pretty remote, especially in a town this size.  I also dismissed the possiblity of three killing factions with a blocked mafia.

Okay now I don't follow AT ALL anymore. It seems everyone is on the wrong track with your role which means your hints were far from a roleclaim and somehow you still got punished?

Also, if you were punished last night then by your own account you should be left without a power today since you feared loosing it forever if you couldn't use it last night.

Furthermore, what's stopping you from roleclaiming now since you already received your punishment and it's a one time thing?

Good points. I reached the same conclusion myself, but did wonder if mafia had several different one-shot kills and wanted to get arguably the weakest, poison, out of the way early.

My thoughts exactly, people were all over the board with me yesterday, yet I received a PM saying I had been punished for the night for all but roleclaiming, and he was very close to making me lose my role for the whole game.  I think the only way he sees it as such is because he knows my role, so it is so obvious to him, but whatever, I'm not going to argue about it.

I sincerely hope saying I received a PM for this doesn't justify losing my role again hatmoza.

The only role I can think of that looses it's ability when he roleclaims is the Lie Detector but I don't see how a Lie Detector could have gotten information about the arsonist on Night One.
