When I say role, I mean name. Now that I look back at the OP, I guess it really doesn't necessarily have to be true.

If someone nameclaims, they only forfeit their next chance to use the ability (if any). Not throughout the whole game.

Here's two case scenarios:

Evil hatmoza:  I like to lie ... a lot in mafia. So I would definitely lie about my role since I learned how to exploit people's gullibility.  I will then use my super annihilation attack that same day/night with people thinking I forfeited my attack :3

Saint hatmoza: I would genuinely roleclaim, clear myself -knowing that I can't use my super anihlation attack until the day after tomorrow :3

So if someone says "I am hatmoza" and they are in fact hatmoza, they'd lose whatever power they have for a night?

Depends. Assume they nameclaimed, roleclaimed, or blurted out their power day 1.

If their ability, for example, was a double vote, they wouldn't be able to vote that same day (day 1).

If their ability was to track someone every night, they wouldn't be to track that same night (night 1).

If they were a nerfed Vigilante who could only kill on even nights, they wouldn't be able to kill on the following night (night 2).

They forfeit the immediate or following  opportunity.

actually last game, I was AFK and Heph treated non-votes as no lynch.

The game before, I had a very important role, and didn't want to make any enemies so I barely said anything, and didn't pursue anyone. I even doc'd myself. Then, day 2, I realized that I was being ridiculous and started playing normally again.

I mean just a straight name claim. No mention of role(doublevoter, tracker, half-vig, etc.) or ability itself(two votes, track, kill on even days, etc.)

I obviously get that mentioning the actual role or ability will result in forfeiture of the next opportunity.(Apologizes for "lose [blah] for a night" as I meant the next use)

Yes, straight nameclaims count too.

Mainly because I want to minimize mass namclaim fuckfests.

We will take from this experiment for future games and see which of the 3 (name, role, ability claims) are most effective in minimizing mass claims.

I consider day 1 lynch a gamble, but one that I'm willing to take. If I'm metaphorically forced to take that gamble through a modkill, and she flips scum, I'd be thinking thrice before I decided to push my luck. 

Although, you're right about not getting the information. No matter what she flips, we're not going to get a lot of information from it, so in that sense, we DO still need to lynch. I just really would prefer no modkill and a lynch of my contribution. This is just like a random.org lynch, imo. I'd even rather have her hang around not playing for a few days until we can find a sub, and a proper lynch today.
