Forums - Gaming - Small texts in most games.

Another 'problem' I find with some current gen games is, is that if you sit close enough to comfortably read the small text, you also see all the ugly low resolution flaws. They are not designed to sit close to the tv with all the low resolution textures and many effects running at half or quarter the resolution.

Some games I rather play from 12ft away on a 52" tv, then from 10 ft with a projector on a 92" screen, since they look like a giant mess blown up to that size.

Yeah when I didn't have my HDTV it annoyed the crap out of me, but I don't have a problem now anymore.

If it's still an issue on a 1080p display, which is the current industry standard

No it's not. It's 720p.

I just tried Venetica again.  What a joke!  And please, no comments regarding my eyesight.  I really do think some developpers are making a mistake by making the font size so small.  How hard can it be?  Come on!  Lately, I have been playing L.A. Noire and no problems there.  New Vegas, same thing.  Portal 2, excellent.  It's a weird design choice:  (chief developper) Ok guys, for our next game, let's make the text even smaller this time around.  People enjoy having a hard time reading the massive amount of text we have put in there.  (other guy at the meeting, an intern) heum...maybe it's a stupid choice.  Why not make the text bigger, so everyone can enjoy our fine writing?  (everybody else) Ha!  Ha!  Ha! Look at the intern with is weird ideas.  Make the text bigger, what kind of suggestion is that.  Right chief?

Divinity II/Dragon Knight sage must be playable on an SD tv aswell.  Considering I had to test it and recommended the devs to make it playable for SD tv gamers aswell.

Two Worlds II is really horrible, if you own an SD tv you are screwed with this game.

I guess you sit not close to your tv?  I have no problems with my HD tv but then again it is only 2 meters between my eyes and the tv .

Well, Divinity 2/Dragon Knight saga is great.  Easy to play and read on my sdtv.
It is an awesome game, by the way.
I had to returyn Two Worlds II, in part because the text was unreadable.  That one hurt
because I was really enjoying it.
