Piracy (pirating) is normally the act of stealing from other ships at sea or using ships to steal from the land.
We have allowed this totally inaccurate use of a clearly defined word to make the simple act of file-sharing mean something nasty and violent.
New piracy laws are unenforceable because it is impossible stop file sharing unless the Internet was shut down.
File sharing or making a back up copy is not piracy.
