I would like them to go cartridge again, though.

Which is a distinct possiblity.  The 3DS uses them with up to 8 GB of capacity.  With falling flash memory prices, I don't see why the N6 couldn't use 16 or even 32 GB flash RAM carts.

Regardless of how much the price falls  flash memory will always be far more expensive than blank BR disc.

A quick check show me I will pay around £15.00 for a 16GB of any given flash format. For £15.00 I can get a blank 50GB BR-Disc and pay much less for a smaller capacity disc.

From that you can make an educated guess at the production cost and what gives you a bigger bang for your buck.

This is one of the reasons manufacturers drop cartridges in the first place although they do have advantages.

At a time when keeping costs down is vital flash will add to the cost of the game.  If the article is correct then Nintendo also thinks Discs are the best option.

yeah

Next Nintendo home console will use HVD, the holographic data storage, it's a disc that could store up to 300 GB and the reading speed is near 4 times faster than PS3 bluray reading speed that reads bluray discs at a speed of about 5 Mb/sec and this holographic data storage can be read at a speed of 20 MB/sec. already in study 1 TB holographic data storage discs.

"Some have speculated that Nintendo will be the first video game console maker to implement holographic data storage due to the recent uncovering of a Joint Research Agreement between InPhase and Nintendo.

Nintendo is also mentioned in the patent as a joint applicant: "... disclosure is herein made that the claimed invention was made pursuant to a Joint Research Agreement as defined in 35 U.S.C. 103 (3), that was in effect on or before the date the claimed invention was made, and as a result of activities undertaken within the scope of the Joint Research Agreement, by or on the behalf of Nintendo Co., and InPhase Technologies, Inc."

Cafe will not even be much more powerfull than PS3. If today, BD-DL is already a bit unnecessary, HVD is completely overkill.

People that hate Nintendo might not realise. But Nintendo will NEVER use another  gaming companies products or ideas. Nintendo sticks to their own stuff, they always have. Blu-Ray won't come close to being near any Nintendo product.
