Forums - Nintendo - Game Informer: Multiple Sources confirm new HD console at E3 for Nintendo

I'm not sure if I want to believe this. Nintendo has already they have new content in the pipeline anyway and it seems that most people are predicting a Wii 2 just because Nintendo doesn't have much content for it (mostly due to the 3DS launch)

That and those that wanted the Wii to go away in 2006.

A lot of those people seem to be dominating the discourse surrounding this, saying stuff like "if Nintendo wants to be relevant again, this console will have X."

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well, since it's fully backwards compatible with Wii games, I'm fine whenever it arrives. I'll just put it in the living room so the entire family can play with it both new games and Wii family favorites, and "retire" the Wii to the basement, where I will take care of my backlog of mainly "Dad's games" that I can't get around to because either I am too busy or when I'm not the Wii is taken...

I say it's the games that will make them relevant, not the system.

IGN is also reprting it and added that Nintendo is going to send a press release announcing the console and the full unveil will be at E3 just like what they did for the 3DS.

Kotaku and IGN are saying it's going to be better than the PS3 and 360 graphically.

Also the official E3 twitter also left a teaser.

Both those sites are using game informer as their sources. They are just spreading a rumor, not confirming it.

By the way, there were ALSO rumors of an HD, blu-ray ready Wii successor a year or so ago.

Kotaku and IGN are not just using Game Informer for the source. Kotaku says they heard the same thing as Game Informer and added that they heard it was more powerful than current gen consoles.

IGN is saying that they are hearing that Nintendo will release a pree release sometime soon announcing the console and will unveil it at E3 and IGN added that it will be bc with Wii games.

Just want to play good games

I'm still not conviced

They don't link to anything other than GI, just claim they also have sources. The lack of concrete details makes this look like wishful thinking more than actual sources.

I'm excited for sure but in order for this to be a success story as the Wii was in terms of sales the following HAVE to be implemented.

Higher quality graphics (seems pretty much a for sure thing)

A MUCH improved controller, the Wii's controller layout is honestly pretty poor in terms of the button setup

Vastly improved online setup (and the death of friend codes)

a steadier stream of game releases, this gen Nintendo would push a bunch of high quality games at once, and then have virtually nothing for months at a time.

and A huge improvement with 3rd party support.

If those things aren't addressed I don't see Nintendo being the market leader next generation.
