I too have noticed it is the non-Nintendo fans raving more about this than actual Nintendo fans themselves.   How odd.

Well I personally don't care about the specs, or how much a game pushes a system, but whether the game is good.

I mean, sure RE4 showed off what the GC, PS2, and the Wii (despite how developers refuse to see it), but if it was the awesome design that kept me replaying it... on three versions of it.

The Wii won't go away though, and you'll have plenty times to play those backlog too. This is console ifor non-nintendo fans, it's a gift from Nintendo.

VGChartz is one of the few places that has actual Nintendo fans, who have been driven out of most other major online gaming outlets. Non-nintendo fans are ironically genuinely more excited about this idea.

The response over at GoNintendo is similarly more middling

Mr Khan, according to the IGN article: "Our sources have said the the console is significantly more powerful than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and that Nintendo's intent is to recapture the hardcore market. Another source said it is capable of 1080p resolutions.

Pay attention to the bolded part...IF that´s true, maybe some Nintendo fans are worried the company will stray away from the whole philosophy that made the Wii and DS so successful, while "hardcore" gamers salivate at the idea of a "hardcore" Nintendo (not that they really helped the GameCube..)..anyway, what do you think?

That would be disconcerting to some, to the Malstrom faction, certainly, though many Nintendo fans would enjoy it (the third party parity we've been complaining about would arrive), but i would still say much of the community is skeptical

Let's hope MS and Sony aren't quick to follow suit, and the SuperWii just gets the same support that PS3/360 currently gets.

I don't want to buy new consoles yet

This sums up my hopes and thoughts about this (pretty much exactly too!)

Malstrom is already pretty skeptical of the 3DS...if the 'N6' (better name than 'Wii 2' :P) is indeed an attempt at recapturing the "hardcore" market, it´ll be quite fun reading his blog.

This rumored console. And the way you put it makes it even more certain that this is just a "hardcore" dream console instead of something Nintendo actually would make.

They don't make games or systems for just non-nintendo fans.

To me, the third parties are supposed to meet the demands of the consumer, not make us meet their demands of the systems they want to make for.

By the way, have you guys seen this:

What's most exciting about the Wii successor however is its all-new controller, which industry sources have indicated is not simply an upgraded Wii Remote, and will even feature a built-in HD screen.

This is far and away the weirdest rumor yet

Yeah it´s weird, but if it turns out to be true, I wonder what (good) ideas could come from that..
