why should they bust their asses to create great content if its not going to sell?

Why should it sell if they're not creating great content would be a better question to ask. There are only a handful of titles that are really comparable with HD titles when it comes to production values and marketing. Those games mainly sold well (Monster Hunter, Guitar Hero, Epic Mickey).

a dev isnt going directly to create a great game, hes going to great an average or good game and see how it does. do you honestly belive that good games would sell a lot more?

Ah heck you're right. Good things sell like shit. That must be why the PS3 is in last place, because the console is so great, unlike the Wii which is a horrible piece of crap.

wow, its funny how people are. did i say the wii is shit in any of my posts? no im just saying nintendo brought the awful 3rd party support on themselves. then i said that a 3rd party dev isnt going to create a great game on an untested platform. first hel great a good/average game then see how things go out.

now please, keep your master evaluation skills somewhere else.

I'm not saying that you say Wii is shit. I'm just saying what you say is perfectly logical when we look at console sales. After all, if people like it, they won't buy it, whereas the things that sell the least are obviously the best things.

I'm just agreeing with you man, can't you see?

yes good job generalizing a question. i really dont know what to say, im wasting my time answering jokers.

Ah, so what you say is that when it comes to software sales, consumer buying habits are totally different than other products? Not sure if I can keep agreeing with you man... Please explain that one to me.

im saying that if games like red steel 2 were good their woudnt be a huge diffrence btw what it will sell and what it currently sold.

If the Red Steel franchise would have the same quality, production values and marketing as the Call of Duty series, the game wouldn't have better sales? You really think that?

read my post again i said a huge difference, and i didnt talk about marketing or production values. and what quality? call of duty has none.

Red Steel franchise

If Red Steel was on PS3, it'd be called garbage. But when it's on the Wii, it is great and deserve awesome sales but the Wii owners aren't eating that up. Therefore, it's the Wii's fault.

Plus, 80 millions people that bought the Wii are actually aliens and after 4 years, developers/publishers still cannot understand them. You cannot blame them for not putting effort into making Wii games.

You are the one saying 3rd party games don't sell. Marketing and production values are directly correlated with sales. If the Red Steel franchise had the similar production values and marketing (ie similar effort from the developers and publishers) as the Call of Duty franchise, its sales would be vastly superior to its current sales. Agreed?

With vastly I mean instead of 0.5 - 1 million per game it would be 2 - 3 million per game. If more 3rd parties would follow suit, nobody would be complaining about 3rd parties on Wii.

In the end, as a publisher, what you get out of it depends on what you put into it.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

Oh Hai guiz! X10 has passed and Yakuza 4 wasn't announced for the 360, SEGA sucks, they've been absolutely ignoring the 360 and I'm mad. They gave the PS3 two Yakuza games, a cool JRPG thingy and Valykria Chronicles and all we got was a shoddy Dreamcast port collection! What? We still get exclusive games from said company? But those aren't the games I want! I don't want silly motion controlled games like Rise of Nightmares and Sonic Free Riders! My royalty as a member of the Microsoft legion means that I get to pick and choose what games I want and then ignore the ones they do give me.

I performed a magic trick, I merged this thread with this thread http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=127127&page=1#, swapped around a few of the main characters and threw in an extra pinch of crazy and voila!

These Nintendo support threads are getting sad and they're blocking up my Hot Topics list, VGChartz should pull a Neogaf and start handing out port or franchise begging bans.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

360 owners have third-party parity, and therefore no cause to bitch about anything. Having been consistently screwed over by third parties, our whining entitlement exists and is valid, an entitlement that only Nintendo-only owners have a right to at this point in time (and a right we've held for more than 15 years)

Though i'll grant this is overreaction because of a non-announcement, never underestimate how far we've been thrown out into the cold

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

its developers faults.  they are still fanboys, which is a HUGE fault of theirs.

They are still under the mentaility that "GAMERS" have only one console.  Its the casuals taht have only one console.  So when a developer makes a CORE game and releases it on all platforms, of course we are going to buy the best version and ignore the shitty ones.   I dont' know why they are surprised when say a wii port fails.  Why would i buy an inferior game?

hell it doesn't even have to be teh same game.  Conduit 1 & 2 do have competition.  Its called all other fps on the other consoles.  Just cause the wii has a lack of fps doesnt mean that it has no competition and will sell a bajillion.  Us "core gamers" as they like to label us will buy the best games.  We dont' just buy the best games for a console for the sake of buying it, we buy the best games.  If call of duty comes out same time as conduit 2, it doesn't matter if they are different systems they are still competing.  We core gamers have all 3, or at least 2 of the consoles.  And call of duty would be getting our money instead of conduit if call of duty is better.

i hate how they think games on other consoles are not cmopetition with themselves.

*evil laugh*

....but im sure it will be announced in the near future.
