It's a whack comparison though, I don't care if people think I'm cherrypicking. It's more cherypicking to compare the SSF versions.

If Capcom skiped SFIV, and delivered SSFIV, do you think SSFIV's sales would be what they are now? no chance. SFIV sales meant SSFIV had stunted growth. SSFIV on 3DS is a brand new title and doesn't have to contend with a previous title on the platform.

So it makes sense to compare the first versions released on all platforms.

I'm sure 1 mill on 3DS is impressive, as is the 3.5 mill on home consoles. But it's more apt to compare it to that rather than SSFIV.

Lets not pretend that "Super" in the title, and the extras actually have much of a sway on overall sales ...

'Cause people who own a 3DS by definition don't own a PS3/360/PC where they could have played SF4? Did it occur to you that maybe SSF4 is still not a new game, even when it releases on another platform?

I'm not even going to dignify that with a (drawn out) answer, of course they're not the same game ...

They are as much the same game as the PS3 and 360 version are the same game.

I don't necessarily agree with, since SSF4-3D edition is a later edition, and can't be easily compared to the original SF4 game.

Also wouldn't it be fairer to compare individual editions? Instead of saying Home Console, or Super Ediition. In the end if this outsells all editions (individually), you can see capcom releasing a statement in one of the quarter reports, stating the best selling super title.

They won't though, because they're not fanboys and they go based on how the GAME sells. I aslo don't believe they consider SSFIV 3DS the same game as SSFIV on consoles.

Or, we might just be spot on and it isn't selling through the roof. Nintendo already announced they expect like, 4 million SW to be sold (or shipped by end of March) and it hasn't even done 1 mill ... they obviously overestimated demand.

It was 4 million units of hardware shipped and they did 2 million in sell through.  Where do you get the didn't even do 1 million?

The shipped a larger volume than usual for a launch to pevent sell outs and price gouging gray market prices.

Again, who cares. The game is not close to 1 million sold right now. The only thing helping is the lack of new releases for the 3DS before June.

The only thing is, did we undrtrack it or there so many copies on shelf.

I think it is EMEAA, it is always EMEAA! /me stares at EMEAA!

based on what? we do get PAL numbers you know.

I'm saying that is where it might be undertracked the most. Or possibly NA, but who knows with NA until NPD....

They expected 4 milions 3DS shipped and 15 milions software shipped. Was that changed later?

Ah that's it, I'm confusing under 1 mill SW, with under 1 ratio attach rate.

Stop lying, we all believed including Nintendo, 4 million was not going to be enough, don't make me go back. It did not sell per expectation, but sold well enough.

Do I need to provide quotes from Nintendo that stated they inteded to ship enough to prevent sell outs?  They never gave any sell through projections other than it won't sell out.

That and Japan earthquake might be the only thing that will save Nintendo share prices after yearly results are published.

The first shipments was  prepared for only by the end of March, Nintendo expected new shipment to ready soon after as most including me expected stock to run out. People were pre ordering like crazy so they can get a chance to find one. Selling half in that same period is very disapointing.

You are comparing percentages against a value with no context.  Why?  They broke sales records in the US and many EMEAA nations.  How can you even attempt to call that disappointing?

Like I stated , they pushed a far larger volume of product into the channel than any console launch in history to prevent sell outs and price gouging gray market prices.   Selling 50% is spot on when your goal is to prevent sell outs.

Investors wer pissed at Nintendo for leaving so much money on the table with the Wii (graymarket prices exceeding MSRP...sometimes even by double) for so long that Nintendo's strategy with the 3DS is to ensure that doesn't happen again.  Hence the combination of high price and high volume.
