Looks like Sony won over Geohot. |
okay wow, i'm reading the injunction now and while goehot didn't "lose" he definetly didn't win...
i'm surprised he agreed to this. i wonder if sony had more evidence in their pocket then what has been released.

And how would that help? He had the money to fight the case as far as I now. It just wasn't a slam dunk win for him, especially with the risk of it being tried in CA. Which from my personal experience has a very corrupt government system that bends to the will of coporations and government officials. I wouldn't want to go up against that. Its pretty risky. But its ok, this will come up again when the next big device is hacked. I just want the DMCA tried in court so hopefully it/or parts of it are ruled uncostitutional. It may not even be SOny next time, maybe MS or Apple or some other company. |
How will it not if taking it all the way might extend the case. He did get what he needed at the time in what... 18 hours? Power to the people right? So how would it have been a slam dunk case if the courts were "fair?"

Sounds like Hotz got pwned to me. |
I pretty much says that if Geohot stops F&%$#@~ with Sony products, Sony would leave him be. Which is the way it should be from the beginning. So yes, Geohot got "pwned."

How bout the part where if Geohot messes with anything sony related in any way ever again he would have to pay them 10, 000 and up to 250,000 if he ever shared anything of it.... so much for his plans of hacking the Xperia play...
1. Geohot walked away without any problems m
2. Sony spent over a million dollars trying to prosecute him
3. Sony lost a customer(who bought quite a few PS3s)
yes, Sony definitely won

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

a hacker and everyone related or associated with him has been banned from messing with nay and all Sony products forever or he will be fined $10,000 and up to $250,000 if he sheres anything over the net. The haker also kept none of his promises about any settlement having to unclude OtherOS and an Opology.
Sony lost nothing but money from this while Geohot lost his rights relating to any sony product, these so called "rights" that he was alledgidly fighting for... did you even read the settlement?
Yes, Sony kicked his ass.
