I wish this had been tested in court. It would have been groundbreaking to have a ruling that Sony has no power over the machine's software after they sell it (which is the only result that wouldn't produce chaos).

Same here. I wonder what the full terms of the settlement are also. I dont blame hime for not wanting to take it all the way it was risky. Oh well until next time.

He can always ask for more donations.

And how would that help? He had the money to fight the case as far as I now. It just wasn't a slam dunk win for him, especially with the risk of it being tried in CA. Which from my personal experience has a very corrupt government system that bends to the will of coporations and government officials. I wouldn't want to go up against that. Its pretty risky. But its ok, this will come up again when the next big device is hacked. I just want the DMCA tried in court so hopefully it/or parts of it are ruled uncostitutional. It may not even be SOny next time, maybe MS or Apple or some other company.

How will it not if taking it all the way might extend the case.  He did get what he needed at the time in what... 18 hours?  Power to the people right?  So how would it have been a slam dunk case if the courts were "fair?"
