The idea being (which we can say has merit or not, but that argument is constant around here) that Apple doesn't need to make a console to worry the big three, they can kill them where they stand by making the whole concept of a clunky, non-portable games device irrelevant next to a high-powered mobile device that can link to your TV, say.
