Forums - Gaming - Battlefield 3 wont beat COD and heres why

@saliminazer  MOH's problem was the same problem the BF will have its not nearly as easy to get into. I hate to say it but Blops MP was just better, MOH's maps were bland and they heavily favored snipers, and they have alot less options. Its like they tryed to mix BF with COD and it just didnt work out that well. At worst its a dumbed down BF at best its a more challenging COD. Like oil and water. Its sounds like i hate it but i acutally dont, ive been playing it alot recently. If peopel give BF a chance i fear they will get their ass handed to them, get frustrated and go right back to COD. I myself am guilty  of this, but once i stopped playing MOH like it was COD and actually strategized i became much better and in turn it became a little more enjoyably, but I doubt most people will have the patience for that.

Makes sense but either way Battlefield 3 will still be a better game

Sales =Quality so I have to disagree.

Sarcasm? Black Ops has like twice the sales of BFBC2 and Uncharted 2 but does that mean it has more quality?

It means it's fun for many people. When it comes to videogames, that in itself is quality.

I'm not an FPS fan, but people like to hate on COD too much.

a game like pong is fun. Tetris is fun. Tic tac toe is fun. But that doesn't mean those games have more quality

Battlefield 2 was a really groundbreaking game. The problem wasn't the game but the poor support. It was a game filled with imbalances and bugs. I remember the airpower was ridiculously overpowered, and they did nothing to fix it for months. The jets would frag people like 50-1 kills. Then there were the helicopters of death where a copter would carry a medic and enginners, which could heal and fix the chopper making it nearly impossible to kill. If they had just fixed the original game and updated it, COD would have never had the opportunity to flourish.

The only one to blame was EA for not recognizing the potential of the original game and letting COD take root. It reminds me of the way WoW was able to dominate largely due to the failure of competitors.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

COD has brand recognition that BF can only dream of. No way can bf3 sell more than COD but I believe bf3 will still do well, and may even eat into a chunk of COD sales. I am sceptical of either game releasing this year but lately there's been a push for releasing games before they're ready, and well EA and Activision will both want a piece of the holiday sales.

Ummmmmm......Hmmm. COD flourished on the consoles and BF2 was on the pc. Not sure how are you justifying that. The pc community will embrace BF3 again but it is the consoles where the big money is these days.

Guys not saying that PC is dead or anything. I love my steam games. :)

you do know that people who play cod buy only one game a year, and thats cod.

you cant say thats its fun for more people if they dont play other games.

the hate on cod is minimal. for what activision does we should make a bonefire and burn copies of black ops.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

What happens if BOTH fail to do sales numbers that Black Ops did?

And here is another factor: EA is in bed with Sony, whil Activision is in bed with Microsoft.  So, considering that the FPS genre is one dominant in North America, where the 360 is strongest, how would a title that is NOT from the company in bed with Microsoft, end up doing better than the title that is?

People buy what other people buys.

umm Jets, cars, tanks and helicopters. Who cares if its hard i want to nose drive onto an person going 500kmh on an jet

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

I kind of think CoD has peaked. The expensive map packs and new version every year are bound to take its toll eventually. I am not sure if BF3 will be the game to do it, but I wouldn't be suprised if CoDBO is the best sellling in the franchise. One thing BF3 will need for sure is split screen multiplayer online and off. That is the sole reason me and my friends do not play alot of shooters (well I play them all). Halo allows 4 player splitscreen online or off, and BO allows 2 player split screen online and 4 player off line. What other shooters offer that? Not MOH, not Homefront, not Crysis 2. Really though anyone know any others? I am always on the lookout.
