Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How sad is this? (Wii related)

I love the mighty whitey, but this is beyond understanding...

http://features.metacritic.com/features/2011/25-best-wii-games/

The top 5 from the first quarter is what I'm talking about. Last year Wii gave me lots of great times, specially with Galaxy 2 and DKC Returns, but this year is starting very very slow.

I am sad about it.

pretty sad indeed...

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Nintendo is focused on 3DS right now, but will swing it's attention back to Wii.    Quite likely, if a Wii2 is on it's way,  a lot of development resources have been assigned to that as well.

3rd parties have pretty much abandoned the Wii.  The only 3rd party games that seem to be selling right now are Just Dance and Zumba Fitness.    De Blob 2, despite being one of best titles out so far (which isn't saying much) totally tanked.

So yeah....    but the good news that's there's some great games Nintendo has released in Japan (or soon will) that can come over anytime including - Xenoblade, The Last Story, Kirby (not Epic Yarn), Padora's Tower and quite a few other older releases too.

What I don't understand is why Nintendo isn't putting something out.   New Play Control Mario Golf, or Luigi's Mansion.  Or heck port PilotWings Resort from 3DS to Wii.      Or release a platinium sellers line with Mario Strikers Charged and such?  Or even some 3rd party classics like Rogue Squadron Trilogy (although licensing issues may not allow) or titles like Dynamic Slash, Disaster, Another Code R, Takt of Magic, etc.

It really is feeling like a dead system despite it's robust hardware sales.

I think E3 will answer a bunch of your questions. We still have Pikmin 3 and Zelda and all of those nifty JRPGs that have been the topic of discussion recently.

I'm sad as well, I've basically been playing almost entirely PS3 lately.  This isn't a bad thing at all, but I feel like i'm neglecting the wii.

I bought DKCR for my Wii this year, but, it came out last year. I thinking about buying Conduit 2,but, I not sure yet.

if my Wii were alive itd would be jealous of the attention the PS3 gets and would have shot itself, hell my DS and PSp is getting more attention, something is awry when both your portable are used more than a home console IMHO, but Xenoblade and TLS will change that, whenever they want to come out

What he said minus what I marked out. But, im not really to worried about new games at this time anyway. I have plenty of Wii games I still enjoy playing and So many DS games I enjoy too. In fact, It is giving me a chance to try out some I missed such as the Laytons, and Pokemon Ranger. Just go tmy first ones today! I also got StarFox command which I have never played. Though I really liked the SNES and  64 one.
