Is this a good or bad response towards the hackers? I think Sony would be better off apologising for taking off Other OS and hope the hackers feel sorry for them. Anon is to be taken seriously despite what people think. Sony is in for a very big loss. Judging by Anon's track record they always do what they set out to do.

You dont get anywhere by trying to appease terrorists.

yay! someone using the word that just to describe people who doesn't share one's views. Truly, never use that word. Its as useless as calling someone fat when they are 90 pounds.

lol, this guy is in dire need of a therapist.

no, seriously you have no idea what a threat Anonymous really is. They gave the church of scientology a massive black eye, has basically destroyed the lives of the people holding Sgt. Manning captive over the whole wikileaks leaks, and has destroyed a security company. As well as shut down several government websites, among other things. You do not take a threat from them lightly or else they will destroy you.

If good sized portion of Anon is seriously going to target Sony, be very prepared for the PSN to be annihilated (or at least be taken offline for at least a week or two if its not hacked and crippled) as well as probably most of the executives within Sony to have all their personal information Doxed. It wouldn't destroy Sony, but Anon will severely damage them if this is true.

Right, and we suffer along with that.  Why is that a good thing?

You seem to always put them up on a pedastal when they really have no reason what-so-ever t obe.  They have no one's best interest in mind other than their own.

Actually, all their major crusades have helped massively. They made it so PayPal would allow donations to wikileaks, they shut Scientology up, destroyed a security company that was planning on revealing who was apart of the cyber war that is still brewing, hurt governments that stood against freedom of information. Yes they have done some questionable things too. But some good does come from what they do.

Anonymous is a very unique group, as they are actually 100% leaderless. It is basically a coin with a heads and tails side, its a matter which side the coin lands on today that matters which side anonymous will take today. There is also the fact within anonymous there are splinter groups that also flip their own coins. It actually a very good example that the world could work very effectively without true leaders. And when the collective gets together and they decided on what they are going to do it gets done.

And really, Sony suffering for what they are doing would be a fantastic thing. They deserve it. It would definitely put them in their place. And like Machina said, they are more likely to reprice everything in the PS Store to zero or 1cent than bring down the network. Network crashing is normally their last resort (except under certain circumstances). And the easiest way to stop a company in their tracks is to destroy their management teams.

and what exactly is this terrible and atrocious thing sony has done, except for using every legal means avaliable to protect their network and preventing piracy?

tell me who exactly is this "Sony" person who needs to be brought down to their knees?

lets just assume anonymous is successful! they completely destroy PSN. they release every code so everyone can play "backups" they set all the prices on PSN to zero so everyone can enjoy free games! and in the end the sony network division just goes out of business, that would be great, for everyone wouldn't it? THEY deserve this, right?

do you actually think anyone else but the consumers and the workers at sony will be hurt by this?

Anonymous wouldnt go that far. They would just make Sony regret decisions. Apply enough hurt, decisions quickly change.

well if Sony think they can do better than a security company good luck to them. all this could have been prevented if they had just left Linux on the PS3. of course they knew they were going to piss off the hackers that paid $600 to only learn that sony take off the feature. also geohot had nothing to do with piracy or cheats on games. all he did was enable homebrew to run to all the people that felt betrayed by sony after they spent $600. piracy and cheats was on PS3 long before geohot hacked it.

Cyber terrorism, look it up.

If this so called "noble" group is just going to mess with security sistems, destroy or cripple websites or release private infoprmation taht will do damage to people or their computer systerms and info systems then that definitely sound like cyber terrorism in my book.

From their past actions and the things that p[eople are saying thay might do in this thread like crpling PSN or whatever then they definitely fit the description of cyber terrorists.

The same way that US armed the Taliban and in turn enabled them to terrorism.

So, you liken GeoHot to the US government?

I dont think you understand when i typed that piracy and cheats was on the ps3 long before geohot hacked it. What he did probably enabled people to make programs to use pirated games and cheats but that was not his sole purpose. Sony is not sueing him for piracy and if he was a pirate he would be in jail not getting sued. Stop being ignorant immediately I command you. Sony is actually sueing the people that can fix the problem all they have to do is enable Linux on the PS3. Guess its too late for that now cause they are going to make a bigger loss.

Im one of the people who hate the term terrorism because its a bs word. In most countries the US have invaded, we are the terrorists and destroying their nations is terrorism. Polls from Iraq and Afganistan proven that 80% or more of their citizens have no idea what happened to the USA 9/11 and think the USA is just bullying their nations and people. So pretty much the USA is a terrorist organization. Like what I did there?

And "Cyber terrorism" is just an extension of bs. Its called hacking. And the people involved are not "Cyber Terrorists" they are hackers.

BS terms are bs.
