The old "MS leaves everything to the last minute" myth again. I hope we get Alan Wake 2.

Myths usually aren't proven every year. I would have thought after the last 5 years people know M$ dont upset their fans.

Alan Wake was announced in 2005 at E3, it released in 2010.

Fable 2 was announced in 2006 and was then released in 2008.

Lost Odyssey was shown at TGS 06 and was released in 2008

Blue Dragon was announced in Feburary of 05 and was then released later in December 06.

Mass Effect was announced in 2005 and released in 2007.

Halo Reach was announced in June of 2009 and it was released over a year later in September of 2010.

Halo 3 was announced in June of 2006 and released over a year later in 2007.

Too Human for the 360 was announced in 2005 and was released in 2008.

Spinter Cell: Conviction was announced in 2007 and was released in 2010.

Fable 3 was announced in August in 2009 and was released over a year later in October in 2010.

Mass Effect 2 was released a year after it's announcement.

Gears of War 3 was announced in April of 2010 and it's being released well over a year later in September of 2011.

I can probably find more, but basically, it's a myth. Just because Microsoft have the announcement and then release it shortly after a few times (Forza 3, Gears 2, Viva Pinata), it doesn't mean that the vast majority of their releases aren't announced a full year or more before they release.

/argument*

Lol not really man since thats not what this thread is about.

*fixed

Doobie Wop pretty much explained the situation with Microsoft releasing titles shortly after E3.

Everyone seems to forget that this year is Huge third party year.

LOL at any RPG to go up against Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 both out this year.

Also L.A Noire is out during E3 and we also have Battlefield 3. I think it would be rediculous for anymore than 3 or 4 first party titles to come out this year. The year is looking great for any consoles, not really because of first party titles.

Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, UC3, Forza 4 and Gears 3 will be the top selling titles this year. Not in that order though. Third party offerings this year are pure golden.

That's why you release Killzone 3, Motorstorm, inFamous 2 and SOCOM 4 early, and save Uncharted 3, Resistance and Ratchet for Christmas!

The thing is 3rd party games will keep most Xbox fans happy, but they are not going to be selling Xboxes, there is still plenty of room for 1st party games as well as 3rd party games

to be honest I think the sheer number of PS3 exclusives this year is going to cannebalize sales.  LittleBigPlanet 2 is already slowing down big time and Killzone 3 isn't matching Killzone 2's pace.  With the sheer number of excellent 3rd party games available as well it kind of makes titles get drowned.  Not that I'm complaining though its given me plenty of stuff to play!

And for the record 3rd party games do sell Xboxs.  And PS3's.

Actually KZ 3's legs have been SOOO much better than KZ2. 360s will sell, but more people will be getting PS3 if there are more games coming out for that system

The holidays this year will probably be similar to last year's holidays

  • Instead of Halo Reach, they'll have Gears 3.
  • Instead of Fable 3, they'll have Forza 4.
  • Kinect Games.
And then a price cut plus the strong 3rd party support

Around the Network

The VGC Community approach to reality:

1) Look at the outlook for the console you worship

2) Build argument as to why that outlook is better than the others

3) Demean the other approaches

4) Rinse and repeat throughout the year

Anyway, ON TOPIC:  Selnor, I agree with you that MS will have a lot more to show and announce, especially on the Kinect front.  NONE of it will sway the minds of those that have their minds made up about MS's first party status or Kinect's appeal.  But who cares about them, eh?  The facts are that the 360, exclusive or multiplatform, has more than enough potentially quality games releasing this year to satisfy anybody that doesn't measure success in the bathroom with a ruler.

Looking forward to MS turning on the light.  10 weeks!!!

Me and u are probably the only 360 supporters on this website.

I trust no one, not even myself.

LOL

you honestly don't think that MS is going to announce anything at E3?  I can guarantee you there is still at the very least one large scale unanounced non-Kinect exclusive game coming this year.

There is no doubt, but they aren't going to announce four big exclusives at the end of the year and then release them all within a few months. Selnor said that Microsoft release games close to their announcements. I disproved that myth.

It's not the end of the thread, he probably should of done it like /End of Microsoft keep titles until the last minute myth.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

This is also another myth that 360 fans seem to enjoy throwing around. There are plenty of 360 fans on this site, I've noticed that the majority of new members (like yourself) are 360 fans. Do you know why there are barely any threads about the 360? Because nothing is happening, so there are going to be less 360 related posts. The 360 isn't dominating in sales, there is no multi-million dollar law suit battle going on between them and a hacker, there are no exclusives that have been released, none of their developers have been talking and there is just nothing to really argue or talk about. The majority of new news on the 360 has been about the Kinect and not everyone cares or are interested in Kinect.

When the 360 was outselling everyone world wide for a few months, when Halo: Reach came out, when Rare was cutting art staff, when the TGS Kinect were announced and when Crysis 2 comparisons were released, the 360 fans came out of the woodwork and then you notice how many members there are, but they just have nothing of interest to post about mot of the time.

You can only talk about the 'possible' exclusives that are coming up so many times until it becomes boring. This site has more 360 fans than we think, which is something that I've realised by looking in the Crysis 2 comparison threads and the Live vs PSN threads. Get over it.

So basically, I am buying Gears of War 3 and Mass Effect 3....

I just can't see where these magic exclusives are coming from, apart from 343, who hasn't released a game recently?

Evey year this is said. And every year we have great exclusives. There is not a single worry that I will have bought more than 4 quality 360 exclusives this year. I mean Real quality.

But where are these games going to come from? Sony are easy to predict as we know their studios, but that is not the same for M$. They have few first party studios, so you are just hoping rather than anything else

Last year I bought Alan Wake and Fable III and none of those two games came out of nowhere

It'll be the same as before. More than likely I predict the following:

Epic - Gears 3 & Shadow Complex 2 Both out this year.

343 - Will show Halo 4 although wont be out this year.

Crytek - Codename Kingdoms - Definately out this year.

Lionhead - Completely new franchise shown - Not out this year

Turn 10 - Forza 4 fully playable definately out this year.

Rare - Killer Instinct will be here this year. Other 2d fighting games have made it the right time for Rare to do. Not sure on release date.

I also predict 2 more exclusives to be shown and out for christmas this year. Personally I think M$ will bring back Banjo to compete with Mario in the Kinect Wii wars for family at some point. Hopefully they have learnt from the last Banjo sucking. And stick to platforming.

actually that list looks more like this

Epic - Gears 3 & maybe Shadow Complex 2 but it's not likely out this year.

343 - Will show Halo 4 although wont be out this year.

Crytek - Codename Kingdoms - probably not out this year.

Lionhead - Kinect game and Fable 4 teaser

Turn 10 - Forza 4 fully playable definately out this year.

Rare - A few Kinect games this year

Call of Duty exclusive map pack out next year on other platforms
