Can't wait for this game :)

Watching the recent previews on Giantbomb it looks like the tracking has been much improved.  It looked extremely accurate and crisp.

Realy?

I couldn't find a preview there. Mind putting it on my wall?

It would be amaaaaying if it could work properly with kinect, but everything I've read and seen so far makes me think that it'll never really work well.

Watch his hand in comparison to the cursor.  It's almost 1:1, and the "floatyness" seems to be gone, looks very crisp.

I watched the vid 3 times. It still looks like a worse input method than a controller. Sorry, but I am entitled to my opinion.

I disagree in this case, with your hand you can swipe (which it's tracking in real time) and stop exactly where you intend, more akin to a mouse.  The alternative is controlling the pointer with a thumbstick where you just steer in the direction you want and need to stop when you see it arrive.  It's not a 1:1 relation to the position of the thumbstick and the cursor, whereas the position of your hand is.

So after a while position of the pointer on screen in relation to the position of your hand becomes muscle memory and you will be able to quickly move your hand to a location in space and the cursor will be where you intend it to be.  Driving the cursor around the screen isn't as precise or quick.

Anyway, the tracking looks much better, which was my original point.

'' and stop exactly where you intend, more akin to a mouse''

Oh really.

''The alternative is controlling the pointer with a thumbstick where you just steer in the direction you want and need to stop when you see it arrive''

AHEM.Oh really.

You might be right on this. Time will tell. Its sure going to be interesting...

You're right, it does look better. The first vids they showed off were just terrible. The main question is how fun it'll be to play with kinect, but on the other hand, you can always switch to the controller when you get a little tired of it.

"If you’re like me, you loved Rez when it came out. Child of Eden is essentially Rez 2. Aside from the beautiful graphics and the addition of a second weapon, it really is the same game, but with one big exception: I cannot stress enough how much more enjoyable Kinect makes this."

"This also makes it feel a bit like a rhythm game and at one point I felt like a DJ, scratching the air around me with my arms and making music each time I did it. It was fun, and my forearms really got a good workout."

"I haven’t played Kinect before this hands-on time with Child of Eden since Kinect launched, and maybe I wasn’t as used to it as I should have been. Other than that and the fact that my arm got tired (yes, I’m a baby), the game was a blast to play"

"Running on the Xbox 360 and utilizing the Kinect, Child of Eden was beyond anything I had ever imagined..... I was actually enjoying the satisfying sense of power I felt when using my arms to rid Eden of its corrupted creatures.  Child of Eden is a huge win for Microsoft’s peripheral as the radiant shooter takes the Kinect out of the casual gaming mindset and plunks it into an inviting, kaleidoscopic world beyond the likes of Dance Central and Kinect Sports."

While the TGS build of Eden was impressive in its own right, the PAX build exudes a noticeable amount of polish. The hands-free Kinect controls are much more responsive, and a few new additions and tweaks have been made to the game's core control scheme....Eden is still the most thoughtful and innovative implementation of the Kinect motion-controller that I've experienced, and I can't wait to see how players will respond to it."

Oh that's not nice!

You ignore my points and then post such nice quotes that would have pretty much made me applaud you 2 posts back.

:)

Ok, cool. So it looks as if it could be really good then. Some of those sites are a little dodgy, but some I will take seriously. Could be a killer app.

Yeah, I admit I'd never heard of most of those but they were what came up when I did a search for child of eden pax hands-on.  I know I've watched people say good things about the Kinect controls in preview videos but I honestly couldn't be bothered to spend the time finding them all lol.

Anyway, I was saying is that while I was excited about the game right from the first time I saw it, the latest videos really show much snappier the controls have gotten and those hand-on impressions seem to confirm it.
