Forums - Nintendo - "Pop-Out Effects" 3DS Clarification

To those saying they don't think they'll use the 3D and don't own the system, you'll change your mind when you get time to play it in a comfortable setting i.e. not in a freaking store.

I don't think so.

But let's say it is. Then Nintendo blew it by having the 3D shown off in a place that would make them look worse.

So even if you're right, it actually makes it look MORE bleak for the system.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Its not a matter of thinking on whether or not I will use the 3D. I know I will not use it because 3D makes me dizzy and all that jazz.  Some normal 3D games already have this affect on me though it seems to be a bit random and one day it will bug me and the next im fine with it.Theres other reasons Im not buying it yet but price and the 3D are two of the pretty big ones.

I will say I hope Ninty never says what you just said to try to get more people on board.

Yes yes yes we all know putting a 3D filter on a small portable device was a stupid idea and only used to lure in the idiots the sad part is it works

i've played the 3DS, and personally, i see a huge difference when turning the 3D on and off

especially in Pilotwings

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

The screen maybe smaller, but i.e. the fireballs are smaller as well. It's not about screen size, it's about screen resolution.

I think it's the best 3D that I've seen. The cinema ones sucked, those TV ones always flickered, and were never clear for my eyes at all. The 3DS one actually works, I was shocked. Got the 3DS yesterday and I really like it. However, I wont be using the 3D feature much since it annoys my eyes after I'm done playing. Like in another thread, my PC screen feels like it has some weird depth or somethin. Anyway, people complaining, stop wanting attention over something like this. I can't wait for RE, MH, and Mario. That's what i'm waiting for.

Oh and I didn't spend 250$ on a machine for 3D, I bought it for the games that I know are coming out. I wouldn't buy it if it had no good games coming out soon. The launch line up is bullcrap ( i got pilotwings which is not the kinda game that I like, but I'm still gonna finish it) and I'm glad it showcases some use of the 3D, and I'm sure it'll get better.

I don't know Rol, I actually had your problem with those bullshit 3D TVs. I noticed a bit of depth, but then it would flicker and distort the image. What I like about the 3DS is that I can set how much 3D depth I want. I usually have it on low or a bit in the middle. The fullest makes my eyes bleed.

So what exactly did you see? Have you played Killzone 3 in 3D. Have you watched any o the IMAX blu ray 3D? I guess not. No flicker on my TV and I still think it was my last year's best purchase. Maybe youve seen some demo on a cheaper 3D LCD TV.

I'm glad the 3DS cant really deal out huge pop out graphics, I think it'd get really old really fast. That being said about a month ago I went to a Nintendo night through my work and we got to play around with the 3DS's. I got to play Ocarina of Time for about 7 minutes and the little glow ball things that float in Kokiri Forest actually slowly floated out the screen. The affect was really nice.

The 3D of the 3DS blows, I can't say it often enough. I try what I can, but I just don't see much of a 3D effect at all.

Which games do you own? I got Pilotwings and I find the depth perception to be amazing, especially turned to max settings. It's like looking into a box and your plane actually pops out of the screen a bit. It's pretty good at medium settings already but playing with maximised 3D effect is amazing.

Are you having problems with 3D movies as well?
