Forums - Gaming - Is it just me or is Bioshock 2 stupid-easy?

I'm catching up on old games (just bought a PS3) and I hadn't played a shooter in well over a year so I started off Bioshock 2 on medium level. As far as I can tell, I'm somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 of the way through the game at this point.

I've felt pressured once in the past three hours because I was scrapping with a Big Sister and accidentally hit a Big Daddy with a stray round so I ended up facing them both at the same time. I still killed them both.

Now I'm walking around with full ammo in almost every weapon, 5/6 health/eve, and about $550 all the time.

What is going on with console shooters? Are they progressively getting easier? I shouldn't be coasting through this game on medium considering how rusty I am at shooters and gaming in general.

It's kind of ruining the game for me, honestly. There's almost zero tension in the environment because the average fight goes "inferno, rivet gun, dead" unless I'm fighting a boss or something.

I'm back-logging as well. Got BS 1 and 2. Currently playing 1.

I personally think BS is ridiculously hard. And like you, I'm not the greatest FPS gamer in the world, so I'm actually relieved to hear BS2 is easier. Something to look forward to.

I have only ever played it on hard with vita-chambers off (because vita-chambers totally ruin it for me) and it was still stupidly easy, so yeah, that's basically the case. I'm not sure about console shooters in general, but the only real challenge in both Bioshocks has been at the beginning of the game. The more you upgrade your shit, the more you turn into a ridiculous beast.

I brought both games in Febuary becase a very good deal.

I played just the first one in Survivor difficulty setting... it was easy, very easy even in Survivor... I only had problem with the first big daddy of the game for being too weak (anyway just died 15 times to learn to kill him).

Yeah... Bioshock is ridiculous easy.

I always played with vita-chambers off too.

Yeah it was pretty easy, though I turned off vita chambers so I had to reload my save a lot.

Crysis 2 on super soldier is pretty easy once you stealth thru most of the game, so yeah I believe FPS are getting easier with the exception of Call of Duty World at War which was ***INSANE*** on Veteran difficulty.

For reference I only play FPS on the hardest difficulties as of two years ago, so yeah they are getting easier lol.

It's just that simple.

This.

Just the firsts Big Daddy are touble (even in Survivor difficult)... but you can go ahead and return to kill them when you are stronger.

Ah, so you didn't find it that difficult either.

The original wasn't that difficult (I'm pretty sure I played it on hard) but in the first half of the game, things still got hairy every so often and got me panicking and fleeing.

Honestly, I think what is breaking this game for me is the rivet gun. I use it constantly for small enemies, which conserves my ammo for the more beastly things when the need arises. Then, when I need to guard a Little Sister, I just trap rivet the shit out of everything around me. During one corpse harvest, I saw a whopping two splicers get through my rivet farm. I could have taken a nap.

Killzone 2 is harder too.
