Forums - Sony - So How's That Free Realms?

Ok, so Free Realms for the PS3 just got listed on PSN recently.  The original file is only 29 MB, but this is just for the installer.  Right now, my PS3 is downloading and installing the game.  Not sure how big the ending file will be, though.  Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has tried it?  And if so, is it any good?  Does it play smoothly through PSN, or does it lag?

I made it through that part...then it wouldnt lauch. Retried several times...never did launch.  A few others have posted on the PS blog with the same problem.

Won't launch for me after it finished the 804MB download.

So that's how big the larger download is?  Not too bad.  I'll have to wait and see if it will launch for me when it's done.  Hope so, cause this game looks pretty fun.  And hey, you can't beat free.

i'm dling it right now so i will find out soon.

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

Which is why it isn't bothering me at all.

I'll just play Crysis 2.

Ok, I was having the same won't launch problem.  When I tried again, it said that it couldn't download all of the assests.  So I deleted it and reinstalled it, and now it's working.  At the Create a Character menu now and I'll let you know what I think of it after awhile.

So far so good. The game runs pretty smoothly, unless there are a bunch of characters onscreen.  While not all will like the art style, I find it pleasing to the eye.  The character creation is definitely lacking.  But, there are a ton of different activities to do in the game.  Whether it be minigames, jobs, or quests to complete.  I can imagine this game could suck up hours upon hours of your life away.

The only thing I really hated was the combat.  When you enter a combat mission, you get a counter on the right hand of your energy bar that measures how many times you can get knocked out without failing the mission.  So, basically they are your lives.  I like this concept.  What I HATE is that it seems like no matter what you do, be it either running away or jumping, ALL of your enemies attacks find their mark.  So once you engage a group in combat, and you don't defeat them quick enough, it's only a matter of secs before you are dead.  This gets really frustrating.

Other than that, not bad.

i agree the combat is the only thing lacking in the game. really like the minigames and driving game too.
