GT5... no surprise here... Grid is also a good fun...

I have two: Burnout Paradise and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. I love them both.

For arcade racing go NFS hot pursuit or wait a week for motorstorm apocalypse. Depending wether you like on-road or off-road racing.

For simulation get GT5. Single player doesn't give you much in terms of racing unless you make sure your car is at the same level as the AI. The special challenges were fun but a-spec was mostly a grind until the extreme level. Fun for the driving, but not a lot of interaction with other cars going on.

Online racing however is great and has me hooked since December. There are so many race types, from bump drafting carts on Indy to racing nascar on le Sarthe to taking le mans cars to the streets of Rome. Never gets boring. Driving a tuned street car without any assists on Nurburgring with variable weather and accelerated day/night cycle, simply awesome. Got to go race now.

WipEout HD.

2^nd = Gran Turismo 5.

3^rd = Modnation Racers

4^th = GRID

5^th = NFS Shift/Motorstorm 2

I really didn't like Hot Pursuit.

Since i´m not into Racing sim, Motorstorm easily.

i thought motorstorm was an arcade game which is probably full of noobs....   ....i went online and got my ass handed back to me, never went back. that game is haaaaard.

in all fairness i got it late so i didnt know the maps as well as the other guys but if your willing to put in the time, it might just be worth going online and you wont end up last in every single race.

festival mode was fun though (especially punching people off bikes)

- Wipeout HD is ok, but I think there's a lot of flaws, especially the tracks being too narrow and the ships bumping too easily into each other. Somehow, Fury adds nice addition to the original. Imho, Wipeout is very far from my all time racing reference, FZero GX (and Rock and Roll Racing !!!!!).

- I am currently playing Motorstorm (the first one), and it's a lot of fun, but it's a bit easy.

- Blur is awesome, it is a real challenge, it's pure fun and racing madness. Special mention for the music (I now listen to Blur's music while driving , wish I had power ups IRL).

I have to get my greedy hands on GT5. Thanks for mentioning GRID, I'll try it.

If you have played any other Gran Turismo game you will like GT5. The latest patch has fixed a lot of propblems that fans and others may have had with the franchise. If you're looking for a quick race with over the top blur effects then, Gran Turismo 5 is not your game. If you are a fan of cars in general then go with Gran Turismo 5. Gran Turismo 5 is my favourite racing game on PS3 and probably anywhere.

WipEout HD is another amazing racing game on PSN. There is a demo if you want to try it out. I've spent countless hour on that game as well. Its not a game with cars though.
