Forums - Gaming - finally got platinum on ff13

Funny. After a break of more than six months I started playing again last... Saturday? Anyway, I've managed to play some ten or so hours since then, and I'm about to have enough platinum ingots in a few more hours to get out of Eden and start working on those marks. This is a game I've been aiming to platinum, and now I finally might have the time to do so unless farming drives me crazy first. I _hate_ farming.

Oh, and slightly off-topic, I just ordered the Chinese version (Japanes voice English text) from Play-Asia.com, been planning to do that, too, for a while now :P

the marks arent that bad as you might think.  i would suggest farming perfumes/scarletites from sacrafices in eden than platinum ingots.  even though the perfumes only sell 1/12 of the ingots, they have a much higer drop rate.  plus, you can load up on scarletites which sell at about 7k but you need about 15-20 for catalysts.

I know Sacrifices have far better drop rates. I'm probably going to farm some on my way out from Eden. However, according to some FAQ on GameFAQs it's supposedly more effective to farm 'toises than Sacrifices. And no wonder; with 1.5 to 2 min battle time, 'toises can be pretty decent. However, with Sacrifices, I'd need LOTS of perfumes to get even close. I think three or so platinum ingots per hour is guaranteed, and even more is likely. How many perfumes would I need for that? Tons.

(Also, about Sacrifices - I think I had ten or so scarletites when I started farming 'toises so I don't think I'm going to need very much more.)

I think I'll still stick to 'toises, annoying as it might be. Besides, I'm already finished; I already have one tier 3 weapon for every character, 5 traps I don't think I'm ever going to use and 15 unused platinum ingots from yesterday's farming. I think I'm going to farm 5-15 more, depending on how patient I am. That should do it for quite a while, hopefully even the whole game.

Yeah, I don't think the marks are going to be bad. I've already maxed crystarium, and I've had some of the game's best equipment for a good while already so it shouldn't be hard. I'm a bit concerned about getting the 5-star ratings though, my level and equipment are going to make it harded... But shouldn't be that hard or annoying. In the end, I get to kill much more varied enemies than so far and they ought to be pretty interesting actually.
